Simon Cowell has been relying on Louis Walsh for support as he struggles to finalise the line-up for US ‘X Factor’.
The music mogul recently revealed he been having sleepless nights as he tries to choose the final two judges to join him and record company chief L.A. Reid on the panel and pals say he has now turned to UK ‘X Factor’ judge and close friend Louis for advice.
A source said: “Louis has been getting lots of late-night phone calls from Simon. The stress of the US ‘X Factor’ judging panel is getting to him. He knows people are sick of hearing about it and wants to get on with the nuts and bolts of announcing big names.
“The problem is, he still hasn’t locked in any names yet. He’s calling Louis as a sounding board, to get his opinion and give him the latest updates.”
Cheryl Cole, Katy Perry and Jessica Simpson are reportedly all being considered for a place on the panel.
While Louis’ position on UK ‘X Factor’ was thought to be in doubt this year with Lily Allen and Gary Barlow tipped to join the panel, Simon relies so heavily on him that he is safe for at least another year.
However Louis’ attempts to bring back his friend Sharon Osbourne have not been welcomed by Simon.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: “Louis’ job is safe. He was campaigning for Sharon Osbourne to make a comeback but Simon told him not to waste his breath as it would never happen. ‘Over my dead body’, was the exact line.”
