Two new characters for Lost

I don’t know how they are going to introduce new characters onto the island in Lost, but it looks like they’re going to give it their best shot. TV Guide is reporting that two new characters will be debuting in season four of the fantasy drama, but no news on who will play them or how they will fit in. Let’s get our thinking caps on.

Let’s assume that if they are to be important (and if you’ve got to think they will be, otherwise why announce their arrival?), then they can’t be part of any flashbacks or flash forwards. They will somehow have to be on the island during the present tense, which leaves a whole host of options. Other survivors? Unlikely, as they have already covered this angle with Ana-Lucia, Libby, Eko and Bernard. New Others? More mystery parachutists like Naomi? Or people on the other end of Jack’s phone as he called for help?

New Muppet Show in the works?

These celebrity re-unions seem endless. With Take That, The Spice Girls and The Police enjoying things more second time round, the comeback epidemic seems to have caught on in TV land. American TV Guide is reporting that a new version of The Muppet Show is in the works, with Kermit, Miss Piggy and co. being digitally enhanced for a new pilot episode.

A source has revealed that “the show will have the original puppets but they’ll be able to walk around. It’s going to be like the original variety show, not the cartoons that came out afterwards.” It’s still all very covert and rumours that Sir Paul McCartney will guest star have yet to be confirmed. “Everybody had to sign confidentiality agreements,” says the source. “Nobody is allowed to say anything yet because the show is still in development.” I hope it’s true and that we can look forward to more killer gags from Fozzy and disciplined drumming from Animal. Gotta love those Muppets!
