Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

EastEnders’ Michael Moon is to develop an unhealthy obsession with Ronnie Branning.

The slimy entrepreneur – played by Steve John Shepherd – won’t let the fact that he is dating Ronnie’s feisty sister Roxy (Rita Simons) come in the way of his love for the disturbed blonde, and will even be seen rifling through her underwear drawer and watching her sleep.

Attempting to turn is girlfriend into a carbon copy of her sister, Michael will also convince Roxy to start wearing the same person as Ronnie (Samantha Womack), who is currently holed up on police bail after admitted to swapping her dead son James with Kat Moon’s tot Tommy on New Year’s Eve (31.12.10).

However, the creepy situation takes a turn for the worse when the sinister slimeball starts spreading rumours about Ronnie around Albert Square and interfering with Kat and Alfie’s (Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie) relationship.

An insider told the Daily Star newspaper: “Everyone knows Michael has a mean streak but he is set to get a whole lot worse. He’s trying to meddle in as many people’s lives as possible.

“It seems he wants Ronnie all to himself. But what exactly is he up to?”

The sinister scenes are being filmed for the BBC One soap at the moment and will hit screens this summer.

EastEnders’ controversial baby swap storyline is to end with Ronnie Branning jailed. The shocking plot – which caused thousands of distraught viewers to complain to the BBC – will reportedly come to a climax next month when disturbed mum Ronnie (played by Samantha Womack) hands herself in to police.

After snatching Kat Moon’s (Jessie Wallace) baby Tommy on New Year’s Eve when she discovered her own son James lifeless in his cot, Ronnie has been passing the tot off as her own. However, when her guilt gets too much to bear, she confesses all about the horrific crime to police and is immediately led away.

Although Kat and hubby Alfie (Shane Richie) are initially thrilled to be reunited with their baby son, Ronnie is conveniently let out on bail on the day of Tommy’s christening and looks set to cause havoc for the residents of Albert Square.

An EastEnders insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Ronnie gets out of bail on the day of Tommy’s christening, and is in Albert Square as celebrations kick off in the Vic.

“The fact she is back in is going to have huge repercussions for that day and she is likely to come face-to-face with Kat.”
