The first of the multi-channels to get the school report treatment, Living brought us Derek Acorah, Queer Eye For The Straight Guy and now TV Scoop rates the progress of the girly station.

Strengths
Living has many friends that regularly find her amusing, interesting and entertaining. She has become a firm favourite with the exchange students from America, having cleverly sourced many of their top shows (Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds and CSI) and these remain her highest scoring classes. She has become very adept at project work, especially thriving with cross-referencing shows such as the Next Top Model series (Britain, America and Australia). Her ability to keep this work fresh whilst similar has been a genuine area of progress, shown again with Abbey and Janice: Beauty and the Beast.

TV Review: Grey’s Anatomy, LivingTV, Thursday 26 July, 10pm

And so second in my double bill of doctors, comes Grey’s Anatomy. I’ve previously had a whinge about the tendency for the Grey’s writers to overlook and neglect some of their more interesting characters and again, last night they were guilty as charged. As much as I love this show, they need to trim their cast (with Isaiah Washington fired and Kate Walsh given her own spin-off, maybe things will look up), as an hour episode reduces some to mere background players.

Again Sloan was two-dimensional. He got to choose which intern could work with him for the day and opted for Izzie, as she would be “good to look at.” However, unlike her predecessor Alex, Izzie wasn’t prepared to become a lackey for the egotistical plastic surgeon and refused to oblige his orders for coffee. Quite predictably, Izzie’s uncompromising feistiness impressed Sloan and after what has seemed like years on the sidelines observing, Sloan allowed Izzie to scrub in and watch at close range a difficult operation on conjoined twins.

Saffron Burrows to join Boston Legal

I really can’t keep up with all the cast changes at the top US shows – it’s like musical chairs with fat cheque books and lots of people watching. I am however, always interested when one such TV newbie is British. Enter Saffron Burrows (the posh one in Deep Blue Sea, the posh one in Circle of Friends, the posh one in Troy – you get the picture), who will be joining Boston Legal as a series regular for season 4 of the legal drama.

Saffron will play Lorraine Weller, described as “sexy and sophisticated” (and undoubtedly posh), she is a litigator who once dated James Spader’s character. I’m sure there will be plenty of unresolved sexual chemistry between the pair. The show is enjoying a high after receiving 6 Emmy nominations, despite ratings for the show having suffered a disappointing slump.
