And if you want to remind yourselves of the days when the Brits were both fun and interesting then look at this clip on YouTube from ITN news in 1996 when Pulp lead singer Jarvis Cocker invaded the stage during Michael Jackson’s performance of Earthsong.

Seems amazing that it provoked so much reaction at the time.

James Corden re-united with Ruth Jones for Sky 1 sitcom

James Corden and Ruth Jones

James Corden is to be reunited with Ruth Jones in a new Welsh sitcom. The Gavin and Stacey co-stars, who co-wrote the hugely successful BBC sitcom, will appear in the new Sky1 series Stella, which tells the story of a woman living in the Welsh valleys.

While Welsh Ruth, who played the outrageous Nessa in the comedy, will be the main star, James, who portrayed Nessa’s on/off partner Smithy, will only make a cameo appearance.

Ruth – who penned the show with husband David Peet – will play Stella, a hard-done-by woman who runs an ironing business in a bid to earn more money.

David told the Western Mail newspaper: “She has a son in jail and two other children and is a lioness of a mother – really protective of her kids.

“She has no company in her life, her car doesn’t go very well and there’s a couple living opposite with a horse outside their home – it’s very true to life.”

Speaking about James’ role, David added: “Ruth and James know each other so it probably came from that. James kindly agreed to do it.

“Both have their own projects but they hooked up for the day.”

Who’s the Daddy? TV’s Gavin and Stacey star James Corden becomes a father

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Comedian James Corden has become a Dad for the first time

Larger than life comedian James Corden has become a father for the first time. The Gavin and Stacey star and his fiancee Julia Carey – who he popped the question to on Christmas Day last year – welcomed a baby boy into the world at London’s Portland Hospital on Tuesday morning (22nd March).

According to The Sun newspaper, no further details of the early arrival have been revealed and the couple are yet to decide on a name for the tot.

When announcing the pregnancy, the 32-year-old actor-and-comedian admitted he and Julia – who he began dating in September 2009 after being introduced to the blonde beauty by James’ former flatmate, actor Dominic Cooper – were “absolutely over the moon” to be expecting a baby.

He said: “It’s true. We’re both absolutely over the moon. We really couldn’t be any happier.”

Meanwhile, friends of James – who previously dated Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps star Sheridan Smith – recently claimed the baby news couldn’t have come at a better time for the TV star, who is finally ready to settle down.

A source revealed: “He was a bit of a ladies’ man in the past but those days are well behind him. He’s at the right age to settle down – and has met the girl of his dreams. He can’t wait to be a dad. Having a baby is a proud moment for James.”

TV Scoop’s Television Top 50 2008, Number Five: Gavin & Stacey (BBC)

TV Scoop Logo.jpgLike Will and Grace in, er, Will & Grace, the least interesting characters in Gavin & Stacey are indeed Gavin and Stacey (see also Ally McBeal, if you can remember that far back). Matthew Horne’s Gavin is pleasant enough, even if he does rely on Tim from The Office’s bemused face rather too much (got the same Lego Man hair too) and Stacey (Joanna Page) is a fairly typical nice-but-dim sitcom character, but the strength of this show is in the writing, the supporting characters and the wonderful cast.
