Simon Cowell: The BGT chief was wrongly accused of fixing the show

The blogger who claimed Britain’s Got Talent was fixed has apologised after being cautioned by police.

The 52-year-old man, who suffers from bipolar disorder, posted an article in which he accused the ITV1 show’s creator Simon Cowell of favouring eventual runner-up Ronan Parke so he would win the series. But he now admits to making it all up.

He said: “I am ashamed to admit to being the perpetrator of the recent Britain’s Got Talent fix crisis.

“I would like to offer my sincerest and unreserved apologies for all the distress and hurt I’ve caused, in particular to Ronan.

“What I did was wrong and I have no excuse for my actions.”

The anonymous blogger had claimed 12-year-old Ronan had been signed up by Simon’s record label, Syco, two years ago and was using the show to propel him to stardom.

However, Ronan – who lost out to eventual winner Jai McDowall – had always denied the claims.

Yesterday (03.07.11) a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said the man, who has not been named, had accepted a caution last Tuesday.

A spokesperson for Sony Music added: “‘A man has now admitted responsibility for the wholly untrue blogs relating to Ronan Parke and the false allegations against Britain’s Got Talent, Sony Music and Syco.

“He has admitted he has absolutely no connection with Ronan Parke, Sony Music, Syco, or Britain’s Got Talent. He has apologised both via the police and directly to those involved and the matter will not be taken further.”

BGT winner Jai McDowall still not landed record deal

Britain’s Got Talent winner Jai McDowall has still not signed a record deal. The 24-year-old Ayrshire crooner triumphed in the ITV1 talent show last Saturday (04.06.11) after impressing viewers with his version of Josh Groban’s To Where You Are.

And even though he won £100,000 and a slot at this year’s Royal Variety Show, he is yet to sign anything with the show’s boss Simon Cowell.

He told BBC Breakfast: “Simon spoke to me after the final but said he is very busy with American X Factor at the moment. After the Britain’s Got Talent tour I will hopefully sit down and discuss what is going to happen.”

While Jai is yet to sign a deal, it has been claimed the show’s runner-up Ronan Parke is set to recieve a £1 million recording contract. The 12-year-old singing sensation – who was the bookies’ favourite to win the ITV1 show – will reportedly be offered a lucrative contract by Sony Music in the hope he will become Britain’s answer to Justin Bieber.

However, the label is keen to keep news of the deal quiet for a while because of the controversy caused by allegations suggesting Simon “planted” the youngster on the show and had signed him up when he was just 10.

An insider told the Daily Mail newspaper: “I think Ronan will get a deal. He is very talented. But everyone is feeling quite sensitive about these ridiculous claims that it was all set up from the start. It has to be handled carefully.”

Meanwhile Jai has been forced to give up a stage role as a Nazi after his huge TV success. He was set up for a key part in Mel Brooks’s comedy musical The Producers, in which he was due to sing Springtime For Hitler on stage with his local drama group.

But Jai’s shock BGT win means the Loudoun Musical Society are now looking for a replacement lead man for their October show.
