Fearne Cotton has called off her engagement to Jesse Jenkins.

Fearne Cotton has called off her engagement to Jesse Jenkins.

The Radio 1 DJ – who first started dating the US skateboarder in 2006 – split from her on-off boyfriend for good last month after getting engaged last September on Fearne’s 29th birthday.

A spokesperson for the 29-year-old star confirmed: “Sadly their relationship came to a mutual end last month. There is ¬no one else involved.”

Despite calling time on the relationship, Fearne – who has dated the likes of ‘US X Factor’ host Steve Jones and The Kooks frontman Luke Pritchard in the past – is said to be “very sad” after coming to realise her romance with Jesse wasn’t working.

A friend of the couple told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “It just wasn’t meant to be. The same problems that were there ¬before were still there and once the ring was on Fearne’s finger she ¬realised it wasn’t ¬going to last. She’s very sad about it but they are going to try to remain friends.”

In the past, Fearne – who is best friends with ‘This Morning’ host and mum-of-two Holly Willoughby – admitted she was hoping to follow in the footsteps of her pal and have a family of her own one day.

She said: “Having a family of my own is really important, more than anything.

“It’s about finding a life partner who’s your best friend. What’s the point of doing great things at work if you don’t have someone to share it with?”

Review: The Only Way is Essex series 2

Only Way is Essex

Yes I know I’m a little bit late with this one considering the hype and knicker – or G-String – twisting everyone has got themselves into over the second series of The Only Way is Essex, which started last week.

Yes, the show which bought us the intellectual words of Vajazzle, shaa’aap and OH MY GOD, returned last week to a right royal Essex fanfare.

If you’re not familiar with the show – OMG – where have you been? it follows “real Essex people” going about their day to day lives which consists mainly of visiting the sunbeds, getting spray tans and showing off those fake boobs.

In last weeks series James continued to ponder losing weight and Amy half-heartedly looked for a salon assistant.

However, there was a shock too with Mark deciding to make an honest woman of long suffering Lauren who despite proclaiming her not so dying love for the Essex Boy, removing a tattoo of his name from her pelvis accepted his proposal.

Oh well any excuse for a honeymoon night Vejazzle although we know it’s not going to last.

House stars break off engagement

It’s not often that I feel at all invested in the romantic shenanigans of celebrities. After all – what do they care what us mere mortals get up to? It’s odd then that I feel quite saddened at the news that House co-stars Jennifer Morrison (Dr. Allison Cameron) and Jesse Spencer (Dr. Robert Chase) have called off their engagement. I guess that through my overwhelming love of the show I had developed unprecedented soft-spots for the two doctors and had gotten all slushy and soppy. That’ll teach me.

The actors released a joint statement to People magazine saying that “after much consideration, we have decided not to get married. We are still very close, and we look forward to continuing to work together on House.” The nosey neighbour in me wants to know if they’ve broken up for good or are, to adopt the classic phrase “taking things slowly.” If they have entered Splitsville, working alongside each other could prove a bit weird especially considering the romantic ups and downs of the couple onscreen. Maybe the writers should just kill one of them off…
