Was I too hasty about The IT Crowd?

the IT crowd.jpgOh boy. What a dick I am. For two years straight, I gave The IT Crowd worst show of the year. I only judged it so harshly because I expected so much. I mean, it was written by Graham Linehan and I love him. I probably shouldn't tell you this... it's probably bad journalistic form or something... but I think it'll make you laugh. After giving The IT Crowd such a dubious honour, I asked Mr Linehan if he'd like to do an interview. He responded with: "With all due respect, go fuck yourself". Even when he's rude, he's funny. I could hardly blame him either... and now I'm beginning to think I may have been a little hasty.

theitcrowd08.jpgWhen the first series of The IT Crowd aired in 2006, it has to be said that we at TV Scoop were not exactly huge fans. Personally, I was put off by the very first episode because one of the main jokes was Jen insisting on wearing a pair of stilettos despite them destroying her feet. Women like shoes. Funny. I didn't watch the rest of the series, but I was willing to give it another go when the second series came to our screens, and while I was still not entirely convinced by the opener, it did grow on me as the series continued. The IT Crowd returned for its third outing last night, and obviously I was hoping for something more akin to the second series than the first - was I disappointed?

itcrowd.jpgThe It Crowd (which we've had our doubts about here on Scoop, it has to be said) has been exported wholesale to the US and the comparisons have begun. The LA Times describes the show as 'reminiscent of The Big Bang Theory' which might be interesting to Graham Linehan - creator of The IT Crowd - which came out in 2006 a year before TBBT.
