No matter how much of a critical mauling Horne And Corden received at the hands of the press, web watchers and other sane and well-adjusted people, it didn't deter the show from doing some good business. Our Anna didn't like it much, Our Mof despised it and I... well, didn't like it either. Then again, I have an inherent dislike of comedy sketch shows unless it stars Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie. So why is Horne And Cordon breaking records all over the shop?

Horne and Corden to form a band for TV

horne_corden_-.jpgTV's new Hale and Pace, James Corden and Matthew Horne, are going to form a band for a new ITV2 show, according to the tabloids. The pair will perform at this summer's Isle Of Wight festival and their attempts to make and create music... and play it of course... will apparently be chronicled in a new series called We Are Rock Stars. Of course, this is not James Corden's first foray into music TV, as one of his first TV roles was in boyband comedy, Boyz Unlimited.

As Our Keris said in her surmising of Gavin And Stacey - coming in at number five in our Top 50 - the show is a masterpiece of ensemble comedy. This clip, over the jump, shows you why. It's breakfast time at the Shipmans, and sausage is on the menu. Upstairs, sausage is also on the menu. Laugh out loud here at Alison Steadman. She's great, it's great!

For all our Gavin & Stacey stuff go here, for our Top 50 stuff go here.

More Christmas stuff to whet our festive appetites and it's the turn of the eagerly-awaited Christmas special of Gavin and Stacey, now promoted to BBC One and suddenly finding itself as this year's big showpiece comedy. Watching Smithy belt out Feed The World gets you in the mood. Come on! Trailer after the jump.

For my money Gavin & Stacey was really one of the highlights of the year. I came to the show horrendously late, but was soon lassoed in pretty quickly. And it wasn't just me either - it became one of the must-see hits of the year and made the likes of Joanna Page, Matthew Horne, James Corden and Ruth Jones household names. My favourite is still Rob Brydon's Bryn though. Anyway... there's a Christmas special in the pipeline and today The Sun published the first pictures from the set. Have a look after the jump...

Simple question: Is Pulling better than Gavin and Stacey? The latter has just won a spectacular amount of awards and dominated column inches over the last week or so, and some are already getting tired of it. The Guardian's Gareth McClean said it was too schmaltzy or something, and said that Pulling was a much better show in every department. After Gavin and Stacey's wonderful finale last week, I stayed on to watch Pulling and the two couldn't be more different - one is feel-good and the other is edgy and dark. So what do you think? Which one is better?

I'm not going to apologise for another Gavin and Stacey-related story this week. The team - James Corden, Ruth Jones and Mathew Horne - have a had a terrific week, and now the G&S news just keeps on coming. To say that they have been everywhere is an understatement, but now news reaches us that James Corden and Mathew Horne (Smithy and Gavin in the award-winning sitcom) have signed on to make a six-part 'character comedy sketch show'. Oh dear. Another character comedy sketch show, a genre I'm not overly keen on. They're so hit-and-miss and reek of self-indulgence. But still, if anyone can pull it off Corden can. There's a neat clip of Gavin and Stacey over the jump, only because I really like it and I love this clip.

It's amazing what a handful of Bafta awards can do for a TV show. Gavin and Stacey has been quietly winning fans during its time on the box, and now it's been officially 'recognised', everyone is falling over themselves to report on the hit BBC Three comedy. So with that, it's time to tell you about Gavin and Stacey USA and a potential Christmas single...

Is the end nigh for Gavin and Stacey?

G&S-no more.jpgBad news for folks interested in Gavin and Stacey after seeing it on the Bafta's last night. The co-creators (and co-stars) of Bafta-winning Gavin and Stacey (don't start that again - Ed) have revealed there may not be another series of the popular BBC Three sitcom. Gutted. James Corden and Ruth Jones, who write the show said they were currently working on a Christmas special of the show. Does this means it's going the same way as The Office and bowing out after a special one-off?

"We never intended to write a second series let alone a third," said Jones. "We don't want it to become predictable. We will see how the Christmas special goes and take it from there." Corden added: "We will write one if we can make it better. We have to be true to ourselves."

Gavin & Stacey has been a big hit for BBC Three, and it's been a big hit in this house too. James Corden, Joanna Page and Mathew Horne have been everywhere promoting the show, The Sun has got behind it big time and it's been winning awards left, right and centre. This series is now mainstream. I missed it first time around, but was so glad I started to watch it. This second series has been fantastic, and last night it was over already. Last week, Gavin and Stacey were back in their home towns, and their marriage was facing a serious threat.

If you're telling me there's been a better sitcom on the box than Gavin and Stacey this year, then you have big brown poo coming out of your mouth. It came out of the blue for me and swept me off my feet. And that's unusual for a gentle and warming comedy series. But the writing is so good, the acting is so great, Alison Steadman has another brilliant comedy role to sink her teeth into and Rob Brydon is back on Marrion and Geoff form. And now we reach the end of the series. It's a must-watch, folks.

I'm absolutely loving Gavin and Stacey over on BBC Three at the moment. It's perky, warm and gently subversive, and I like it very much indeed. One of the few sitcoms I do like actually. Watching it makes me realise what a gem Ruth Jones is. She co-wrote the thing with James Cordon, puts in a smashing performance as Nessa ("I won't lie to you, but...") and is one of the country's unsung comedy heroes. It's about time we lay down and give her her due.

As I said in our preview, I missed the first series of Gavin and Stacey - I'm afraid that flashy advert they obviously spent a few quid on put me right off. But the opinion of people I trust seems to be that it's great, and the clips I've seen in the run up to this second series have made me laugh.

Normally when I get my hopes up, I tend to be disappointed. Especially when BBC Three's involved, let's face it. But this time my expectations and fulfilled, and then some.

Somehow I managed to miss the first series of Gavin and Stacey, but I'm very happy to admit that that's my loss. I've heard so many good things now that I'm actually quite excited about the second series, and so I thought I'd give you a little preview of the first episode, courtesy of Auntie Beeb. The new series starts on BBC Three, Sunday 16 March, 9pm.
