And so, along comes Channel 4 to team up with FilmFlex save the day! Super Lord of Absolutely Everything, David Attenborough, shares his favourite TV wildlife moments with the nation in the largest release of natural history video clips from the BBC’s vast archive in a new online site. Sounds a bit exciting doesn’t it? From Planet Earth’s incredible footage of the rare and elusive snow leopard, to tool-using chimps and the moment when a killer whale seizes sea lions from a beach in Trials Of Life, the most iconic and landmark wildlife filming moments are among more than 500 clips from 30 BBC series now available to view.

If you’re from a small town you don’t let anyone take the piss out of it. Like slagging your mum, only you are allowed to do it. In the crevices of the countryside are great people with rare senses of humour. You complain about the lack of anything to do, always aware that pacing around like a caged cat in a zoo. However, the people are good. So often, TV misses this fact in favour of mere nose pulling to those unable to defend themselves… so step forward Hardy Bucks, championing the slackers of the wilds.

Derren Brown. All the ladies fancy him, despite the fact he’s gay. I suppose it could be one of his mind-tricks. It’s more likely to be the fact that he oozes charm and he’s one of the finest entertainers on the planet. So while he’s finished up with predicting lottery numbers and nearly blowing his brains out with a gun, he’s now going to team up with Channel 4 Education to make a new internet show aimed at getting young people to question paranormal hoaxes.

It’s nearly midnight and, for some reason, I’ve been watching a load of people stood on top of a plinth in London doing very little. Currently, there’s a man up there looking like he’s about to commit suicide, joined only by a small Welsh flag and torrential rain. Oh, and the drunken, hurled abuse of braying Londoners shouting “I hate the Welsh!” and singing The Stripper music. It’s become a weird, oddly distracting TV event. Some of you may argue that it’s not a real televisual event because all the ‘action’ is online, but the internet is just another medium for TV. Television, translated from Latin and Greek means “far sight”, this is just another tool to enable us to tune in remotely to somewhere else.

What a crock of bum crack. I saw this just now and it made me laugh out loud. I know people are very upset over the passing of their idol and are trying to hold on to anything they possibly can, but this is just ridiculouos. Some bright interweb spark spotted, during a tour of the singer’s Neverland mansion on CNN’s Larry King show, a ‘ghostly’ figure in the bedroom. Ghostly figure? Erm, no, I don’t think so. One of the things I’ve learned during the two or so years I’ve edited this site is that blog like TV Scoop now play an important role in creating buzz for a particular programme or series a head of time, and also give TV viewers an open forum to voice their opinions on a show they’ve seen the night before. It’s the water cooler effect – people want to share their experiences of the night before’s television. They want their opinions to be validated or to disagree with someone. That’s what we at TV Scoop hold dear – the chance to interact with readers about our televisual experiences. Now, there’s a new website that brings all the discussion under one roof, and uses the BBC’s world-straddling website to power it. So what, and where, is it?
Have you dug Funny or Die yet? If not, here’s the scoop. It’s a cool website full of videos designed to make you laugh. There’s a lot of TV comedians on there, including a new (exclusive to FoD) Rock Profiles, which of course, is one of the shows that first saw David Walliams and Matt Lucas together as a twosome. Peter Serafinowicz is also on board too. Basically, it seems like a lot of comedians and actors are swerving the TV pitch and going straight to the internet with their new ideas. Uncle Ben’s is running an ad for sweet and sour sauce at the moment that hits just about every Chinese stereotype button there is. Clearly someone in their marketing company thinks this is (a) funny, (b) acceptable, and (c) a good way to sell more of their product. Ha! (Not a Chinese sort of Ha! in case you thought I was falling into the same trap as UB) I’ve got news for them. There’s a bit of a backlash going on in the backwaters of th’Interpipes. Turns out it’s only funny if you’re not Chinese, it’s only acceptable if your view of Chinese people is stuck somewhere in the 1940s, and you may well end up selling less sauce that you thought. We dip into the teen TV area from time to time (coz we like cartoons, innit), but there has always been room for a good blog dedicated to this huge and important genre of TV. Whether you like it or not, TV is melded with the internet. You’ll be seeing more and more TV stars doing stuff online because… well… there’s more freedoms for a start. Which is why I’ve been enjoying David Mitchell’s Soapbox on MeetTheBulldog.com The latest video (which you can see over the jump) sees Mitchell discussing rudeness on TV. Auntie BBC has announced today the identities of two new Dragons who will preside over an online-only version of BBC Two’s Dragons’ Den. Sorry if I got your hopes up for a scoop on the TV show. Anyway, you shouldn’t be too downbeat! It means even more Dragons’ Den for you fans! So, who and what the devil is going on? Well, welcome to the fold, Shaf Rasul and Julie Meyer (who is pictured above), two highly successful entrepreneurs, who will give Britain’s budding business men and woman the chance to secure up to £50,000 of investment for their ideas.

As part of the BBC’s Darwin Season, and supporting David Attenborough‘s new documentary Charles Darwin And The Tree Of Life, the BBC Archive is taking audiences back, way back, 53 years to join David on one of his first adventures for the BBC: Zoo Quest For A Dragon. First broadcast in 1956, Zoo Quest For A Dragon was the third series of the iconic Zoo Quest show that saw David travel to Indonesia in search of a Komodo dragon. All six episodes of this ground-breaking series, along with a special interview with David about the evolution of Zoo Quest, are featured in the collection – allowing a new generation to enjoy this series online. Not that oldies can’t relive the old days too!

Sometimes, British TV is a weird place to be. Over the years we’ve had all manner of things that have puzzled and delighted (although, usually the former). Think of Touch The Truck, Vic ‘n’ Bob’s weird Saturday prime-time gameshow that saw a bloke boxing a garden shed to bits, Quizmania and The Bloke Who Liked Having It Off With Cars. However, of late, truly weird TV has been on the wane and we have to look abroad for our strange kicks. Well, over the jump, is a video of what seems to be the Dutch ‘You Bet’, and some bloke has a challenge involving ladies’ bras… and taking them off very quickly indeed.

(Sir) Michael Parkinson is staying hip-to-the-lip by going all 2.0. Now, for those of you that don’t know what 2.0 means, don’t ask me. From what I can gather, it’s the new catch-all phrase for anything remotely modern like video on internet sites and houses made from plastic. Possibly. Anyway, Parkinson is making his most famous and memorable interviews available on his own website, which just so happens to have launched today (god bless press releases or I would’ve never known).
In many ways Suzanne Shaw was sort of the prototype of the pink-obsessed Big Brother twins (we haven’t forgotten those ‘My Little Pony’ hair extensions from the Hear’Say days!) so it’s no great shock to find that she’ll be singing the soundtrack on a new Barbie movie. She’s cute, she’s funny and we know the kids will love her. Despite the Darren Day business, the girl’s done good, let’s not mock her. Too much. Interview cut in with pictures of Disney castles over the page…
After I posted up the news that there’s going to be a new Cadbury’s gorilla advert played out on Channel 4 tonight, one commenter left a link to YouTube that showed the gorilla bashing out the beat to Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse Of The Heart. This, of course, is what the new advert will be based on, but the clip on YouTube is only a remix (ie. someone laying down Total Eclipse Of The Heat over the original advert). There are other gorilla advert remixes out there and, if you go over the jump, I’ve posted up a selection of the best. Watch out for an X Factor audition, a Nirvana tune and something from 50 Cent. Bit of fun, innit?
