TV Gallery: Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend, ITV2

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend (ITV2, Thursday 29 January, 9pm) is built for people to slag it off. Why else would someone make something like this? Not content with being famous for having absolutely zero talent and an embarrassment to the human race, Paris has taken it upon herself to star in her own reality TV show to look for a best friend in Britain. A partner in crime who can accompany her as she navigates the London party scene, if you will. I don’t know what’s worse or tragic – Paris herself for having to look for a friend in a television show format (is your life so empty and vacuous you have to use television to search for a friend?), television itself for making such a show, or the 12 numbskulls who thought it’d be a good idea to take part. Here they are… be prepared. Click on the image below to see the full horror of it all. Just look at the state of some of them…

TV Gallery: T4′s new presenter, Jameela Jamil

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

T4 has has always been a bit of a hotbed of TV presenting talent over the years. Dermot O’Leary, Vernon Kay, June Sarpong, Steve Jones, Simon Anstell, Miquita Oliver and Alexa Chung. OK, so I’ll revise my hotbed of TV presenting talent comment. However, the arrival of a new presenter into the T4 studio is big(ish) news in some quarters. The latest member of this illustrious almumni is former model, Jameela Jamil. There’s no news yet of when she’ll take up her new duties. Click on the image below to see more of the newbie, but my initial impressions are this – looks lovely, but also looks a teeny weeny bit like Alexa Chung.

TV Gallery: Skins, E4

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

The third series of Skins starts tonight (Thursday 22 January, 10pm) on E4, and here’s a little introduction to the new cast. I mused yesterday whether this programme was actually just a late-night version of Grange Hill. I still stick by that opinion, especially when I saw the trailer and look at these images – every new term you look at new, young actors who act badly. You identify who are the ones who will merit some sort of emotional investment, and mark the ones who could be the ones you will be loving to hate in a few weeks time. I used to do that when I watched Grange Hill. Anyway, say hello to the brand new cast of Skins – Cook, Effy, Emily, Freddie, JJ, Karen, Katie, Pandora and Thomas. Click on Cook to have a look at the rest of the motley crew.

TV Gallery: Demons, episode three

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Still enjoying Demons? Still hating Demons? It seems people are erring on the latter, but no matter… we’ll press ahead with an episode three preview. In tomorrow night’s episode (ITV1, Saturday 17 January, 7.40pm) Galvin and the team come against a rat-like creature called Mr Tibbs. This is personal for Galvin because Tibbs killed his wife, so all hell, one can imagine, will break loose. Maybe. To have a look at some of the images from tomorrow night’s show, click on Mr Tibbs below.

TV Gallery: Demons, episode 2

Friday, January 9th, 2009

Demons got a bit of pasting last week, didn’t it? Our John thought it fell between two stools and didn’t quite know what it wanted to be. Elsewhere, there was consternation at Philip Glenister’s variable American accent, and, it has to be said, some of the dialogue was pretty shocking. However, it continues tomorrow night (ITV1, Saturday 10 January, 7.45pm) and I may just have a little look to see how it develops. In tomorrow night’s show, we’re going to be treated to 2,000-year-old demon, as well as Richard Wilson doing a guest turn. To have a look at this week’s episodic pics, click on the image below.

TV Gallery: Demons, ITV1

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

Tomorrow night sees the start of Demons, ITV1′s big, new Saturday night family actioner (Saturday 2 January, 7.20pm). You might have seen the adverts – the channel has been flagging this up for a while now, and the advertising spend has been evidently pretty high. It’s a re-imagining and a 21st century re-working of the Van Helsing story, with Philip Glenister in the lead role as a sort of Obi Wan-type figure, guiding young Van Helsing descendant Luke through a dark underworld of demons and Mackenzie Crooks. I’ve assembled some pictures for you to get excited about, so click on the one below to view the whole shebang. Hold tight for interviews with the cast… they’re right coming up.

TV Gallery: Caught In A Trap, ITV1

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

This is a bit of a TV event, I think. TV talent show winner and consequent West End star Connie Fisher makes her TV acting debut in Caught In Trap . When I initially heard of this programme I thought how much fun it sounded – normal woman obsessed with Elvis Presley, breaking out into Love Me Tender every five minutes. Perfect for Christmas, right? Read into it a bit deeper and you’ll find that this normal woman, a council worker, was nicking money from parking meters to feed her obsession. It’s based on a true story and it’ll be interesting to see how they play it, and whether Connie does a good job. To whet your appetite for the show (which is on this Friday, 26 December on ITV1 at 9pm), here are some pictures. Click on Connie below to see the gallery.

TV Gallery: The Devil’s Whore, episode four

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

It’s the final episode of The Devil’s Whore tonight (Channel 4, Wednesday 10 December, 9pm) and what a treat this series has been. In tonight’s finale, Joliffe’s relentless pursuit of Angelica comes to a head, as does Sexby’s loathing of Cromwell, who has been turning into a brute ever since he decided Thomas Rainsborough had to be killed. I can’t wait to see how it all pans out, and whether Angelica can finally find some peace. She deserves a quiet life. She really does. To have a look at these appetite-whetting images, click on the picture below and have a look.

TV Gallery: The Devil’s Whore, episode three

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

The outstanding Devil’s Whore continues on Channel 4 tonight (Wednesday 3 December, 9pm), adn we’re left wondering whether Angelica will survive the hang man’s noose. These picture that I have gathered for you seem to suggest that she does, but how and why remains to be seen. What we do know is that it’s not just Angelica’s life that’s under threat – King Charles also looks a bit doomed. It all adds up to another superb episode. Click the picture below to have a closer look at the gallery.

TV Gallery: The Devil’s Whore, episode two

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

We’ve already had a Devil’s Whore trailer today, but sod it… let’s go a bit crazy and have a look at some images from tonight’s episode (Wednesday 26 November, 9pm). I can’t get enough of it, and I’m hoping that you can’t either. The pictures – you have to click on the one below to access the whole half dozen or so – throws light on just who rescues the lady Angela from the gutter. It doesn’t look as though it’s John Simm’s Edward Sexby – he’s gone all Ray Mears on our arses. Enjoy!

TV Gallery: The Devil’s Whore, Channel 4

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Hurrah! Today is the day. The Devil’s Whore starts on Channel 4 tonight (Wednesday 19 November, 9pm) and it should be really good. Or average. Even bad, maybe. But what I’ve seen of it (the first episode), it was more than good. I have high hopes, so we’ll see what happens. It stars Andrea Riseborough, John Simm and Dominic West, and tells the story of a young woman called Angelica. She’s a member of the King’s court and footloose and fancy free, but isn’t your average 17th century lady. She marries one of the posh young bucks and life for her finally looks ok. Until the Civil War. Then it all happens. To get you in the mood, I’ve gathered a set of images together. To have a look, click on the image below and off you go.

TV Gallery: MTV Europe Music Awards host, Katy Perry and her cherry chapstick

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

The MTV Europe Music Awards comes live and large from Liverpool tomorrow night (MTV One, Thursday 6 November, 8pm), and all kinds of crazy fun will ensue. Some music people will say rude words, they might show some flesh and young people will scream loudly in the audience. This year, Perez Hilton is doing so some digital hosting (go here for details) while Ms Katy Perry is doing the ceremony hosting. She’s very lovely, and fits MTV’s profile of edgy/cool/stupidcontroversial. In honour of Katy and her cherry chapsticks, here are our favourite pictures of the pop headline maker. Click on the picture below and you’ll find Katy in all her glory.

TV Gallery: Dead Set, E4

Monday, October 27th, 2008

The eagerly-anticipated Charlie Brooker-penned Big Brother zombie mash-up Dead Set kicks off tonight with an hour-long series opener (E4, Monday 27 October, 10pm). The series then continues every night this week at 10pm with half hour-long episodes. Anyway, lots of things have been written about it, so there’s no need for me to blather on (it has bits of Big Brother, Jaime Winstone and lots of zombies). What I have done is, by way of visual preview, collected a nice bunch of publicity stills. All you have to do to view the whole lot it click on the image below and off you go. We’ll have a review of the first episode tomorrow.

TV Gallery: Summer Glau, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Virgin 1

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Every guy in the world loves chicks with guns, right? Well, maybe not, but for those that do enjoy that kind of thing, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles must be sweet nectar. The second series returns tonight (Thursday 23 October, Virgin 1, 9pm) in gun-toting fashion. You may remember the last series ended in utter carnage, and now, what I’ve seen of the first episode of the new series, the carnage just carries on. The big question is whether Summer Glau’s character, cyborg Cameron, survives or not. I’m going to say yes, she does survive, but not necessarily in the way you would expect. To celebrate the new series, and Summer’s extraordinary/stupid name (you decide), I’ve selected my favourite pictures of her from the chocolate box that is the internet. All you have to do is click on the picture below and enjoy!

TV Gallery: Nadine Velasquez from My Name Is Earl

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Why am I putting up loads of pictures of Nadine Velasquez from My Name Is Earl? Because I want to, ok? Well, that’s not strictly true. Think of this as an informal introduction to the Latin starlet. Series three of My Name Is Earl is now out to buy on DVD, packed with extras (deleted scenes, featurettes and loads more). The four-disc set costs £34.99 from your local DVD store, and to celebrate the release, the good people over at Fox invited me to go to a posh hotel room in a posh London hotel to chat to Nadine, who stars as random but loveable cleaner/stripper Catalina. The interview will be up tomorrow, but in the meantime, here are some pictures of her. Click on the image below and get acquainted…

TV Gallery: Star Trek movie stills

Friday, October 17th, 2008

We try to stay away from films on this site (apart from John’s Film Of The Week picks), but the new Star Trek movie looks interesting. I used to enjoy Star Trek when I was a younger person, but got bored with it all after a while. The whole franchise needed a boost, a breath of fresh air, and JJ Abrams’ reinevntion looks to have done just that. The movie is released next year, but initial cast shots look pretty cool. So why are we covering the Star Trek on these pages? Well, just look at Heroes’ Zachary Quinto as Spock. He looks rather good, as does our very own Simon Pegg (although he’s not featured much in these images). To use our very own transportation system, click the image below and be beamed down to a Star Trek Picture Planet. Or something.

TV Gallery: Salma Hayek behind-the-scenes on 30 Rock

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Tina Fey is the hottest thing since toasted, buttered sliced bread these days and 30 Rock is the critical darling of the comedy cognisenti Stateside. The show, on five over here, has also ramped up the guest star list in recent months. Jennifer Aniston is definitely in series three, as is Rose McGowan and Oprah. Steve Martin is rumoured. One person caught by a camera very recently was Salma Hayek. Let’s face it, you see the pictures and you only think one thing. I’m not going to say it, but every article I’ve read on the subject (like here and, predictably, here) mention what-you’re-all-thinking. Anyway, there’s a full gallery of Salma in action with her new co-stars when you click the picture below. Enjoy!

TV Gallery: Peter Kay’s Britain’s Got the Pop Factor and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice, behind the scenes

Friday, October 10th, 2008

It’s been a while, but Peter Kay is finally back with Peter Kay’s Britain’s Got the Pop Factor and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice this Sunday (10 October, 8pm). Having watched Peter on various stand-up DVDs and chatshow appearances, I know he loves a bit of singing and reality TV so I’m not surprised he’s basing his TV comeback in the world of the TV talent contest. And, despite the preposterous title of the show, I’m pretty certain this won’t be a merciless mickey take – it’ll be funny and quite a gentle satire. Whatever it is it’ll be long. There’s an hour and a half for the first bit, then a Peter Kay documentary and then a Peter Kay’s Britain’s Got the Pop Factor and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice results show. A whole night of Peter Kay then! To get you in the mood I’ve pulled together some behind-the-scenes photos. Click on the image below to view them all!

TV Gallery: Eli Stone, episode one

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Yes, Eli Stone – the quirky law drama featuring a main character who has ‘visions’ of George Michael all over the place – debuts on Sci-Fi tonight and it looks interesting. Im going to reserve judgement until I’ve seen it because I shudder at the thought of TV shows who go for a willfully quirky premise, but it looks promising. To get you in the mood, here are some pictures from the first episode. Click on the image below and you’ll see pics of Johnny Lee Miller, Natasha Henstridge and, of course Gorgeous George.

TV Gallery: Britain’s Missing Top Model winner Kelly Knox makes her catwalk debut

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

A few months ago we were enjoying Britain’s Missing Top Model very much indeed. It was a TV competition along the lines of other modelling TV talent contests, but there was a twist – all the girls who entered were disabled in some way, and the show aimed to challenge preconceptions and asked whether the uber-image conscious fashion industry could embrace a disabled model. What could have been rubbish and exploitative was actually a great series, full of incredible, inspiring women. The winner, Kelly Knox, made her debut on the catwalk during the recent London Fashion Week. It was a show staged by the BBC’s online fashion magazine Thread, and BMTM’s people sent us some nice shots of Kelly strutting her stuff. She looks great! Simply click on the picture below to see her in action.
