How creeped out would you be if your television set suddenly decided to talk to you. I don’t mean aimlessly talking in your direction… I mean talking directly at you and mentioning your name, without you having the slightest inkling it was going to happen? Well, that’s what happened to Simon Pegg last night.

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010Lost fans start campaign (and show how mental they are)
Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Fans of Lost are insane. They really are. If you tell a Lost fan a spoiler, they’ll simultaneously become aroused and kill you on the spot. They’ve now launched a Twitter campaign to try to stop President Barack Obama. Okay, that’s a bit much. They’re actually trying to stop his State of the Union address delaying the show’s season six premiere.
Telly Twitter: Orange do TV deal
Tuesday, November 17th, 2009
Twitter users will soon be able to tweet to each other via their TV sets while watching entertainment and sports shows, after Orange struck a deal to integrate the service into its mobile and television offerings. This means, a running commentary for those who don’t sit with a laptop on their knee for every waking second of the day. Under the deal, Orange is aiming to integrate Twitter into football coverage, news, entertainment shows and films.
The people of television on Twitter…
Wednesday, October 28th, 2009
Okay, you’re probably aware of the amount of people from TV who are on Twitter, thanks to our Telly Twitter section, which rounded up the best sleb Tweets each week. However, we’ve had a bit of bother and not done it for ages for reasons so dull that if I told you, you’d probably fall asleep and ‘pass away’. However…
Telly Twitter: Whose Tweeting what from TV
Thursday, July 9th, 2009
Phew. What a week! Twitter has been dominated by Michael Jackson’s memorial service and new art TV installation thing, One and Other. Our TV spods are no different of course. They’ve been obsessing over the casket and plinth just like everyone else. So what did they have to say about it? Well, be warned, there’s some fruity opinions that you may not agree with… oh… and Jamie Oliver has been saying naughty words to people.

Telly Twitter: Who’s Tweeting what from TV
Thursday, July 2nd, 2009
I’m so hot that I feel like a clock face in a Dali painting. It’s ridiculous. Mercifully, I know I’m not alone, thanks to just about everyone on Twitter saying much the same. We Brits are just not designed for this slight rise in temperature. Of course, that doesn’t include TV celebrities. They’ve probably got houses in the Bahamas and all the junk haven’t they? Anyway, what have out slebs been Tweeting about this week? Throw away nonsense as usual you suppose? Well, click over the jump and you’ll find out.

Telly Twitter: Whose Tweeting what from TV
Thursday, June 25th, 2009
Twitter continues to puzzled, beguile and charm with incessant noise and hilarious putdowns and jokes from all. Seriously. There’s some incredibly funny people Tweeting away through the week. I’m officially more addicted to it than is sensible. Maybe it’s because people can’t prattle on for too long and, if they do, they get stomped on for being long winded and boring. Whaddaya lookin’ at me for? Anyway, what’s been going on in Twitter with our TV slebs? Well, let’s get over the jump and have a see shall we?

The whole of this week has had the feel of a mass exodus about it, making me think I’ve missed a memo and that you lot are all in a nuclear bunker somewhere, reading this nonsense thinking “He’s brave… or amazingly stupid.” The latter. As a result, Twitter has been a bit quiet. That’s not to say there’s been no gems Tweeted. A personal highlight for me was TV talking head and Radio Times/Guardian soapmuncher Grace Dent implying that I pretty much constantly masturbate over the telly. I say ‘imply’… “Mof Gimmers has been pulling the end off it since 6pm LEAVE IT ALONE!!!” She wouldn’t think it so funny if she knew about my problem in that department. Away from overshares and scurrilous rumours, let’s have a peek at what’s been going on…

It’s been a weird old week. Twitter has been dominated by that whole BNP business and now, Swine Flu. Of course though, for the most part, our TV celebrities have been blissfully unaware and chunnering on about this and that. In a way, it’s quite sweet. Obviously, it’s a bit depressing too. Still, they probably have swank dinner parties where they talk about politics right? They don’t need to vent on Twitter? Right? RIGHT? Anyway, let’s look at the highlights of the week’s Tweets.

Twitter continues to hoover up celebrities as they continually realise that it’s the best and most direct way of talking to fans. Sadly, some of them don’t actually bother talking to Us Mere Mortals and spend all their time Tweeting other famous people they already know, which is, on one hand, understandable, but on the other, not really the point of social networking sites. Still, there’s a lot that do and they share cool things that you wouldn’t get anywhere else… so with that, get yourself over the jump to have a peek at some of the new people signed up to Twitter and what they’ve been saying.

More and more TV folk are appearing on Twitter, which is great news for someone like me who compiles Tweets from celebrities off the box. Also, it’d be nice to have a week where I could prattle on without mentioning Stephen Fry. As much as I love him, I don’t want his name to be uttered every single time someone mentions Twitter. That said, I’ve gone and mentioned them both next to each other, which makes me think that’s it might just be impossible. I hope he’s on commission. Anyway, more Tweets from TV are over the jump, so click on dearest, click on…

Telly Twitter: My Name Is Earl cancelled… but can Twitter save it?
Thursday, May 21st, 2009
Channel 4 can be a bit rubbish when it comes to sitcoms nowadays. It used to be that Friday night was Awesome American Sitcom Night, but no more. Fraiser, incredibly, lost its Friday night slot soon after Niles and Daphne finally got it together, and Scrubs and My Name Is Earl have both suffered from being shunted from Channel 4 pillar to e4 post. It means that it’s very easy to lose track of series, and you end up watching eveything out of sequence – as such I’m not really sure whether the quality trajectory of My Name Is Earl is generally downwards, but either way, it has just been canceled.

People have been moaning about Twitter again… almost like someone is running around with a gun, threatening to blow their skull putty to kingdom come, if they don’t join up. I’m not sure where the notion that you HAVE to join comes from… maybe it’s the fact that loads of celebrities are using it and they want in, but can’t be bothered. Well, you don’t need to join! You can just read this article instead. If you change your mind and want to sign up, all the links for the TV folk are included over the jump! So, let’s see who has been saying what this week…

Our Tweeting celebrities (that looks a bit like a bleeped a swearword out then didn’t it?) have been busy this week, once again showing us that their lives veer from the incredible to the astoundingly mundane. Thankfully, I’m hear to weed out the rubbish Tweets from the fun ones… and let me tell you… there’s a couple of crackers this week (involving someone getting a tube stuck up their arse). So, without further stalling, let’s have a look at who has been saying what…

One of the best things about following celebrities on Twitter is that you get to live vicariously through their glamorous lives. Even better is when you realise that most of them don’t have glamorous lives at all and in fact, seemingly spend most of their time doing the things we all do… which is moaning about The Apprentice and getting fat on biscuits. So with that, let’s have a nosey at who has been saying what on Twitter this week…

As it’s been a great week for the weather, most Tweets of late have been people randomly chunnering on about how lovely it is outside. Of course, if you’ve got working eyes or a rudimentary ability to feel changes in temperature, you’d know that. Still, it’s nice that everyone is so pleased with a bit of sun. That’s not to say other things haven’t been going on in Tweetsville. The various TV celebrities have been once again showing their sparkling wit and sharing their exciting lives with us no-marks. It’s hardly fair, but second hand glamour is better than first hand boredom. Anyway, get yourself over the jump for the highlight’s of this weeks Tweets.

As Twitter grows and grows in popularity, so to do the naysayers. They anti-tweet brigade pooh-pooh any notion that people might like to, y’know, actually converse with people online. They’re probably so obsessed with real life that they refuse to own a telephone or any kind of conversation that involves any sort of gadgetry. Oh well, while they moan and snipe on TV and in their articles, the rest of us sit around enjoying each other’s (mercifully brief) musings! Of course, half the TV industry is on Twitter, so let us see what they’re all saying.

Telly Twitter: Whose Tweeting what from TV
Thursday, March 26th, 2009
More and more TV celebrities are signing up to Twitter. It almost seems to be something of a cult amongst them now. Stephen Fry is still the Patron Saint of Twitter, which has given it credibility in the rarefied air of televisionfolk. Graham Linehan (Father Ted, The IT Crowd, Black Books) has been bullying everyone he knows to get on it. So hopefully, we’ll be seeing more comedians on there, who will no doubt be a lot more serious away from the sketches. Anyway, no more fluff, let’s see who has been saying what.

Twitter seems to be really taking off in Europe now. Until recently, it’s been the bastion of the Americans and the supremely techie. And me. Who is neither. I say that because I’m definitely not American and I often look at my laptop like it’s a stuffed unicorn. Anyway, there’s some new additions to Twitter this week, including Mr Eddie Izzard, who has been talking about the filming of his new TV show and, of course, Stephen Fry’s been at it, filling Tweets with musings and mirth.
