Oh. Dear. God. Big Brother to become even more irritating.

george_lamb_.jpgBig Brother's Little Brother was always good fun, mainly, because Dermot O'Leary was a decent enough bloke. Okay, he's the product of TV shit factory, T4, but still, he was okay. Well, BBLB is about to become the most irritating thing on TV with the announcement that George Lamb and Zezi Ifore have been confirmed as the new presenters.

George Lamb is one of those people that makes anyone living outside of the south of England want to drop H-bombs all over it. The reason why Northerners hate London? Look at George and the way he ironically shouts 'shabba'. The cracking website, The Lipster, referred to Georgie as "the man whose interview technique is to talk about snogging with tongues, shouting "Don - heheheh!", and playing landfill indie 'til ears bleed?" and y'know somethin'? I'm with the girls of The Lipster all the way!

Big Brother Celebrity Hijack limps out but no-one saw

bbch_winner.jpgOnly yesterday, I was saying that Big Brother may be watching me, but I'm not watching Big Brother. As further proof, I twittered on about how no-one was watching and didn't even mention that it was the final. Why? I simply didn't know. It would seem that I wasn't the only one to have let Celebrity Hijack slip under the radar as the show limped out with a paltry 644,000 viewers.

As you probably know, the 'reality' show was told to go hike by Channel 4 after the racism row, so, on E4, the show was left shivering out in the cold and lonely. If you wanna know how bad the figures really are, the last Celebrity BB landed itself 3.2 million viewers. So with that, Dermot O'Leary left the Big Brother franchise through the backdoor, under the cover of the night... and off to bigger things. Not that it'll mean anything to you, but the show was won by John Loughton, a 20-year-old politician from Edinburgh.

Big Brother is watching me but I'm not watching Big Brother

johnwho.jpgRight. A show of hands please. Who is watching Big Brother's Celebrity Hijack? Anyone? I thought as much. I can't see a single hand. That's probably because I'm sat at a computer as opposed to looking at a room full of people... and the fact that I'm completely blind in all my eyes after a particularly vicious weekend of drinking... but you get the gist of the point I'm trying to make. It would seem that this new installment of BB is failing to capture the attention of the nation... so will it be the last?

I normally watch Big Brother. I've never liked it, but somehow, I always manage to see it. I get slagged by my mates for my knowledge of it... but really... you take it in by assimilation don't you? You kinda know what is happening even if you've missed a week. However, this year, the whole thing has passed me by completely. Going on the official website this morning, it seems that it's hardly action packed. One 'headline' reads "Jeremy has just been to the loo." Yup. That's TV gold that is...

TV Review - Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack, Channel 4, Thursday, 9pm

BBCHreveal.jpgIs it that time again already? Yep, we've got another Big Brother show to play with. Instead of having a 'normal' one, or indeed, a 'celebrity' show, the producers, in a last ditch attempt to generate some interest in this failing format, have decided that they're giving us a mixture of the two with a twist. That's what they'd have you believe anyway. Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack (Channel 4, Thursday, 9pm... and then moving on to E4) was supposed to feature a mix of young prodigies with a celeb playing the role of Big Brother.

Once again, Big Brother has done a sterling job of finding a bunch of incredibly irritating gits. It's the classic BB mix of idiots and vomit inducing self promoters. Words used throughout the show by contestants included 'flava' and 'y'get me?'. People gave themselves 10 out of 10 for looks and had the kind of eyes only seen on a sharks and panels of judges on other reality shows. I dare say that no-one in their right mind expected anything less... I mean, talent usually makes its own way, but when the show began, it was clear that 'genuinely interesting' or 'sane' wasn't to be on the menu.

Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack announces contestant line-up and Matt Lucas for opening night

Big%2BBrother%2BCHB3K1690.jpg

It's been coming for quite a while now, and finally Channel 4 has announced the contestant line-up for Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack and the first celeb to take the controls. Little Britain's Matt Lucas will be in the hotseat tonight (Channel 4, 9pm), with the likes of Jimmy Carr, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Keith Lemon, Malcolm McClaren (if he doesn't run away), Brian Sewell, Joan Rivers and Ian Wright popping up throughout the series. Of course, the deal is that the stars become Big Brother, while the 12 contestants will number all sorts of politicians and 'talented' people (I'm being careful not to lump those two types of people together).

I have no idea whether this is going to work or not, so we'll have to wait and see what kind of mischief each celebrity brings to each show. For sure, there's not the usual buzz to the start of a Big Brother series, but this is an EXPERIMENT (and a way to get out of celebs making idiots of themselves). To read the contestant line-up, click over the jump.

Fave TV Moments of 2007: Anna Waits

johndavidfreema.jpg

Ooh this is quite a treat for me - here at TV Scoop we each have shows that we cover (no-one else has dared review The Mighty Boosh for example...) so it's good to look back at the year and have a little chat about shows I didn't get to review at the time.

Well, that's the theory anyway - in practice I usually ran to the computer as soon as a show I loved came to an end. So Cranford, Boosh and Peep Show are all involved, but with the added bonus of Doctor Who and Life On Mars! Woo!

Big Brother Celebrity Hijackers revealed

Amongst the slebretards taking up the challenge of hijacking Big Brother, is Little Britain egghead Matt Lucas. Also on the show will be infuriating 'comic' Jimmy Carr, a pair of artists called Jake and Dinos Chapman, Bo' Selecta! character Keith Lemon and the female equivalent of Jimmy Carr, Joan Rivers. Not only that lot, but Sex Pistols and Buffalo Girls brain Malcolm McLaren has signed up, along with the marvelously camp Brian Sewell and ex-footballer Ian Wright.

The series, which features young and "gifted" housemates (which still hasn't been cleared up... chances are it involves random nudity and shouting) being guided by the celebrity guests, starts on E4 on January 3.
