It wasn’t a good weekend for the “older ladies”. Mary Byrne got the boot from the X Factor and Ann Widdecombe, self confessed “dancing elephant” got the chop from Strictly Come Dancing last night.
The 62-year-old, went out gracefully claiming she had had ‘the time of my life’ with her dancing partner Anton Du Beke, who lifted her up one last time after hearing the vote.
Props to the former Tory minister, who lasted for ten weeks in the show and this week, but sadly lost out to soap heart throb Scott Marsden. She waltzed out with her head held high and also graciously claimed that her time on Strictly had also inspired many older women to give dancing a try.
However this week was her last with judges describing her as a “dalek in drag.”
In the past she had managed to cling on because her routines were so entertaining but as the competition heats up, it’s understandable that she had to go.
Scott and his partner say goodbye to Ann Widdecombe
