What Did You Think Of ITV’s Daybreak?

Daybreak.jpgThe tantrums at the BBC are long gone and Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley have forgotten all about that thing they did called The One Show to present… well… ITV’s early morning equivalent of The One Show. However, this time, it is called Daybreak and it’s on early in the morning when everyone is in a bad mood because they’ve got to go to work or the kids are eating the detritus from the toaster.


Anyway, Daybreak has now taken it’s first bow and, unsurprisingly, it was all a bit clunky. That’s not a criticism as such. All new shows that go out live need to bed in a while before we know if they’re much cop or not.

All the usual things are in place though, which let us all know we’re watching morning television. Notably, this means things like news broadcasts, weather people, cheery cheeriness and, with this being ITV who don’t like to take risks too big, they kept half the staff from GMTV in Kate Garraway, John Stapleton and Lorraine Kelly.

They’ve probably got a special Royal Correspondent as well, but I just don’t care.

But what do you think of it? Is it a refreshing change the the morning televisual routine? Do you think Adrian and Christine will captured the magic they once had? Did they have it in the first place?

Or is it just the latest RI:SE with Chilesy becoming the new Mark Durden-Smith and Bleakley the new Kirsty Gallagher? Is the show a sniff away from hiring Keith Chegwin to break into people’s houses and shout WAKE UP YOU BEGGARS!

    Hated the programme. Can’t bear to watch Chiles or Bleakeley and certainly don’t want to wake up to them. What were you thinking? Didn’t watch them on ‘the one show’. Have no idea what the attraction is for this couple. Fed up of seeing the same old faces moving around the channels. There must be loads of new talent out there and I mean talent! They looked so uncomfortable on that sofa. Will have to give it a miss from now on.

    Its just like the BBC’s One show but early in the morning. Hate all this introducing each other crap – bring back GMTV I wasn’t a great lover of Kate Garaway or the Emma one but miss the likes of Andrew Castle and the old format, moved onto BBC which is mind blowingly boring but better than what ITV now offer

    What a load of rubbish. GMTV was easy watching & fun. Adrians miserable face is the last thing you want to look at first thing in the morning. BRING BACK GMTV.

    PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back GMTV. Chiles andr Bleakeley may have worked on the One Show but not on this one. Can’t believe that after all these years I have switched channels in the morning. Always had GMTV on for an hour or so whilst waking up and getting ready for work. The presenters were great. The new studio is cold and unwelcoming. Don’t suppose the powers that be will listen to its viewers though – it’s OK for them they don’t have to watch this rubbish.

    its absolutely awful, so boring. No connection between the new presenters at all, even want to turn off when competitions come on! Bring back GMTV something the nation wanted to get up to in a morning. Just want to stay in bed now.

    Horrible. Really dull and boring. Can’t bear either of them. I have switched over to BBC1. If you want viewers ditch Daybreak or at least its presenters.

    I agree on the sofa I can hardly bear to watch them trying to find a comfortable way to sit,usually ending up in them just leaning forward. What a relief it must be when there’s the chance to lean on the desk during the sports report !!

    Whoever made this happen should be sacked!! GMTV was fun, cheery and part of your morning. Day Break is boaring and bland. I’m going to take up train spotting or watching our clothes dry on the washing line in the morning; it would be far more entertaining than enduring Day Break. Pure mince….. Adios STV

    What were you thinking of ITV,GMTV was brighter,happier,the presenters were better,and friends are saying the same. Daybreak is so dull and boring not a good way to start you day and to brighten it up!!!!!

    another monday trying to watch daybreak chiles face and bleakleys voice i cant decide which is the more irritating sorry but the old gmtv was much more entertaining. plenty of news but with alight approach to the day.send this pair back to where they came from if they were so good at there old programme why leave to spoil my morning//

    Disliked Kate Garraway to loud, glad shes gone (nearly)
    can not understand how this can be considered as an improvement, total load of rubbish, why are they so so close on top each other ?and does she have to be so loud?
    and will they never learn, about talking over each pother.
    Please bring back Andrew,morning tv for us will (unless you change) good old BBC the current team are just NOT working,great joy was felt in this household when we thought Kate G was on her bike, but no such luck, get rid,start again.speak to your viewers and find out what works, for the licence players.

    I cannot believe that the likes of Ben sheppard and Andrew Castle have been replaced by Chiles and Bleakley. Apart from the fact that they are a bad example of good posture, which incidentally all previous presenters were good examples of, they are too intimate and sit too close so it doesn’t seem as though either of them are taking it seriously. They were fine for half an hour in the evening but the professionalsim of Andrew, Ben and Kate as anchor presenters is sorely missed and in the event of a huge serious news story breaking I am afraid the BBC will take all of your viewers as these two do not have the skills to display sympathy, empathy or serius journalism reporting. Even if you don’t agree with my preferences for god sake get Christine to use the sofa, move over and sit up!

    Bring back GMTV how boring is daybreak, bring back Richard Arnold, Andrew Castle and put Kate Garraway where she belongs as a main presenter. I very rarely comment on any thing but i feel so fed up watching i turn over to watch anything but this programme.

    cant stand to watch gmtv anymore, god i look at chiles face and i feel like crying he has a miserable face and her voice gets on my nerves pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase bring back kate,andrew,ben,richard,as i like to be woken up with a smile listen to your veiwers itv no one likes it!!!!!!

    Daybreak!, more like Daybore!, a complete waste of time and money. GMTV was fine, the people who thought it was the right idea to change it are paid too much and have no idea, BBC Breakfast all the way from now on!.

    The worst thing GMTV did was get rid of Penny and John Stappleton, they were the only decent presenters on there. Adrian Chiles must need glasses as he is continually leaning forward to try and read the promoter boads. Cant stand (and never have liked Kate Garaway, The show is getting worse instead of better. I had been hoping that it might improve. Please, please bring back Penny and John. At least there was comedy with them, Daybreak lacks any humour.

    The bad nightime colours of violet clash with the morning senses. The dreadful ‘canned synth’ music that plays too loud behind the dialogue… why does it play at all? I sit and shout ‘TURN IT OFF’ The informed experience of John Stapleton is so sorely missed. Why did they keep Kate Garaway with her sniggering too loud laugh? GMTV wasn’t great but the memory of it now is so much better than this total miss of a programme. It’s wrong on every level! And to cap it all, their accents clash which is ok in the evening, but somehow sounds terrible in the morning. ITV sort it out, it’s actually quite simple.

    Oh let`s think of something remotely associated with early morning, what about Sunrise (no Sky have that) what about Breakfast (BBC have that) …er Daybreak? thats fucking genius!!!

    And as for the new presenters lol
    Adrian Chiles is such a sour faced fat tub of lard with a monotone voice, Christine looks like a horse with aids and her voice is the last thing you need first thing in the morning (worse than Garraway,but only just)
    She thinks showing a bit of leg will endear her to the viewers, dont think so love..It might have worked for sad middle class viewers on the one show but it aint gonna work on Daybreak ever

    As for Dan Lobb, Dan KNOB more like, total cretin. That scotish bird who does the weather is another annoying voice and her face looks like she needs surgery.

    I was never a fan of GMTV but i could just about endure it (for the headlines & weather) but now Daybreak is just celeb obsessed stories and as for the other segments like entertainment & lifestyle and the cool before school bit..omg..

    Axe this pile of shit and start again, i could produce a better show with a budget of 15 pence

    i cant bear to listen to this crap, bring back gmtv, there voices are horrid. i will not wake, watch there ugly faces and listen to there terrible voices.i have switched over to sky news.daybreak what was you thinking?

    It’s fantastic that all the Chilean miners are now above ground…. However there has been a missed opportunity….. Before the mine was finally sealed up, Andrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley should have been sent down, locked together, in the capsule never to be seen again!!! Her hysterical, artificial laughter and his gremlin- like face would be buried forever a mile underground. That would be the most appropriate place for Golum Chiles and his Daybreak entourage. Bring back G.M. TV. PLEASE, before you lose all your viewers completely!!!!

    I predicted this before it even started, Chiles a blind miserable overweight drone, Bleakley a false hysterical prattler dont need this first thing in the morning. Watch BBC now

    Well i actually enjoy watching this train wreck called Daybreak, You can see the “chemistry” between Adrian & Christine (if by chemistry you mean careers going down the drain)

    As you may know i used to work for GMTV from 1993 and was basically booted out by these 2 presenters so i have pent up anger directed towards them, However i am sure you will agree these 2 need shooting (like an injured horse)
    Put them out of their misery now, you can see the pain on their faces Mon to Fri for 2 & half hours.

    To the ITV execs that terminated my career and have forced me into cameo appearances on the Alan Titchmarsh Show… FUCK YOU!

    I am not bitter, so any ITV execs readin this, this is how to fix Daybreak!

    1. Sack Adrian, Christine, Kirsty,Tasmin , Dan Lobb & Garraway
    2.Bring back me (Penny) & Emma along with Ben Sheppard and a new male presenter (anyone but Castle/Stapleton) also bring back Nasir
    3.ditch cool before school and pointless Yoube videos and concentrate on the stories of the day
    4. Stop advertising the competition 4 times an hour!
    5.Ratings will soar

    I have loyally watched GMTV since the start and have enjoyed waking up to the show. I used to check out what BBC what up to every now and then but the brilliant charisma between most of the presenters was great and infectious – even when they were having a go at each other. Well, I could only stomach Daybreak for a week until I then switched permanently to BBC Breakfast or Radio 5 Live. They knock spots off of Daybreak. I don’t want to see those 2 every morning – totally souless with no personality of their own. Why on earth you kept that arrogant, cocky Dan Lobb beats me. You also lost out big time by losing Ben Shep. he had really grown up on GMTV and therefore ITV invested loads in him. He was funny, sparky, intelligent, good looking and what’s more NORMAL – just like all of us. Wake Up……… Daybreak – I can’t even remember what the programme is called.

    I believe in change and moving on, but if they had to move on from GMTV to a new show i just wish it had been with a bit of quality. I can only describe Daybroke:-)) as on the same parallel as a cheap,trashy glossy magazine.I dont think i have spoken to anyone who likes it,and i wish they would not sit with their feet up on the sofa with shoes on,dont why try and educate our children not to sit with shoes on the furniture,Im sure they are trying to be cool… BUT ITS JUST NOT HAPPENING. And poor Kate Garaway, have they done to her, she is like a grinning silly girl.
