alan-davies--.jpgTeenage rebellion! WAHOO! Let’s smash stuff! Beat up cops! Mither the system! YEEAAH! That’s what the ’80s was like. And here, to be our own Arthur Scargill is a man who once bit a tramp on the ear and played a magic man who lived in a windwill – Alan Davies’ Teenage Revolution (Channel 4, Thursday, 9 September, 9pm)

Alan Davies – an affable enough chap, despite being an Arsenal fan – presents a show which looks back at his teenage years. So why are his teens of interest to us? BECAUSE HE’S A BIT FAMOUS YOU CLOD!

Davies grew up in the ’80s which was beyond depressing. Seriously. It was a thoroughly grim decade lightened only by slightly less grim Findus Crispy Pancakes.

Anyway, he kicks off his journey in some pointless leafy suburb where he was the rebellious son of some accountant.

He jokes: “You can see the powerful sense of social exclusion and deprivation I was fighting against.”

He will then takes us to his public school, fawns over Barry Sheene and then tells us all about how teenagers used to hurl insults at Asian shopkeepers.

It’s all very milky eyed and sweet with a backdrop of utter horror. Could be fun I guess.
