MY DAUGHTER GREW ANOTHER HEAD.jpgWhen I saw My Daughter Grew Another Head and Other True Life Stories (Channel 4, Thursday, 4 March, 9pm) I cursed myself for not pitching it myself to a TV station. In fairness, I’ve never pitched a thing to a TV station, but this show is clearly a good idea.

See, we’ve all seen the ridiculous stories that end up in Chat, Pick Me Up and the like. Be it in passing on a news stand or whilst waiting in a dentists or hanging around in the waiting room of the GP.

These magazines tell us the weird, tragic and downright bizarre stories of ordinary people. People with eyeballs growing out of the end of their noses and people who can only reach orgasm by being tickled by the ghost of Martin Luther King. They’re brilliant and baffling.

James Quinn goes about making a documentary about getting behind the stories. First, he makes them soberly recite the headline from their tale… “I snogged a swan” in one case.

However, as ever with shows like this, all is not as it seems (hence why this should be such a great programme). We’ll meet one lady who is reduced to a gibbering, crying wreck when she reads (for the first time) how her sex-change tale appeared in print.

Essential viewing.
