I don’t get Tim Lovejoy. I don’t get him in the same way I don’t get Fearne Cotton. Of course, that usually transpires into ranting and bile at the TV every single time they appear on the box… but someone in TV clearly likes them because they keep getting work. And Lovejoy’s latest gig is a puzzler – Blue Peter!

Mercifully for our nation’s children, the former Soccer AM host has only signed up to guest present the show.

Apparently, Lovejoy, auditioned for the gig 10 years ago, but failed to land it. I can’t quite work out who beat him to the punch? Tim Vincent?

Anyway, he’s been asked to fill in because regular presenter Helen Skelton will be embarking on a 2,010 mile kayak trip for Sport Relief. Attagirl!

“I auditioned in 1998 when I first started presenting. But I don’t think my skills at making things were quite up to scratch,” Lovejoy told The Sun. “Despite being turned down then, I am delighted that Blue Peter has asked me on.”

Also reported to be guesting are Angellica Bell (who makes sense), Radio 1′s Scott Mills (who really doesn’t make any sense in any situation) and Dick & Dom (just what Blue Peter needs – anarchic messers!).
