About bloody time. This week sees the return of MasterChef (BBC One, Thursday, 18 February, 8.30pm). No Already Famous People, no professionals… good, honest, amateur cooks going head-to-head in a food-off. Once more, John Torode and Gregg Wallace return to the fray enabling us all to play MasterChef bingo!
What does that mean?
Well, look out for John and Gregg yelling at each other from close range, Torode’s staring eye-balls, Gregg mentioning that he likes a pudding and the incessant rave music that accompanies Club MasterChef.
The contestants, like always, have been picked from thousands of hopefuls and, as is par for the course now, face beserk high-pressure tests which they’d have you believe shows the contestant’s passion and creativity… when really, the tasks are only there for one reason – it makes for better telly.
So off to the professional kitchen in Italian restaurant Dolada they go, as well as being asked to master British classics at Rotunda and modern Spanish tapas at Iberica.
It’ll be preposterous and fun.
