Infinity.jpgLike... whoa duuuude... Horizon (BBC Two, Wednesday, 10 February, 9pm) is going to be talking about infinity and all that eye-widening stuff. Yep, science that tries to sidestep boring stuff like How Much Fuel Comes From A Peanut When You Set It On Fire, instead, preferring to melt your mind.

Basically, the premise of this week's show is that we're going to look at one of the mental and baffling ideas in mathematics - the concept of infinity.

Something very similar was covered by Alan Davies a while back when he asked a bunch of nerds 'How Long Is A Piece Of String'. It just so happened that these nerds had some of the most interesting theories ever shared on a TV screen to proffer.

And this is the deal with this new show. Mathematicians, for example, argue that there are infinitely many infinities, each one infinitely bigger than the last.

How about that?

I've no idea what it all means either but the main thing is that by watching this programme you can safely assume that you'll feel immediately 61% smarter than someone who tells you that they were watching a soap opera instead, regardless of whether you can process it all.
