Silent Witness (BBC One, Thursday, 7 January, 9pm) returns to our tellies this week with an episode called Intent. Once again, our breathy and serious pathologists have a riddle to unsolve with the clues found by staring at a slowly rotting cadaver. It's quite grim isn't it? Feel free to coo "...but ever so interesting!"

This week's opener is particular preposterous puzzle.

The show is so convoluted with such a huge number of plot lines, holes, people involved and the like that you'll need to open your own case file just to keep up with it all. Of course, this will thrill fans of the show to the point of fainting.

So yeah, an insurance investigator snuffs it and Nikki, Harry and Leo are on the case. Why is he dead? Was it something he was investigating? Like someone getting some tools stolen from their van overnight? Or maybe some slates fell off a roof and some damp got in?

Of course, it won't be that dull... and you'll be more curious than the nosiest cat on your street to find out what happened.
