gordons great escape.jpgIt’s clear that Gordon Ramsay doesn’t command the same respect he once did on TV. Initially, his firebrand cookery excited foodfans who, until that point, had been used to cuddly and nice chefs. However, the badboy turned panto and everyone got bored. So, in an attempt at rebranding Gordo, we’re faced with Gordon’s Great Escape (Channel 4, Monday, 18 January, 9pm)

This Great Escape is part of Channel 4′s Indian season and of course, that means sending Big Gord off to India.

Ramsay has never been to India before and so we get to watch his eyes widen as he experiences the wild diversity of the country and of course, the incredible varying culinary traditions.

Gordon starts in the north where he cooks for train passengers in a cramped carriage. Then, he’s off hanging around with a royal chef who instructs him to prepare a biryani for a wedding feast and some villagers send him up a tree to find a rare delicacy.

Could be good, providing he leaves the bravado in London.
