The BBC iPlayer is now available on Freesat devices. Yep, you can now get iPlayer on a normal, household set top box or TV set. No longer do you have to huddle around a laptop on someone's knee. Isn't technology exciting sometimes?
After a successful Beta period, the iPlayer is now available on Freesat.
There's some slight snags. To take part, you'll need a Humax branded Freesat HD or Freesat+ set top box and a broadband connection of at least 1Mbps. You'll also need to connect your set top box to your broadband connection - visit Freesat's website for more details on all that junk.
Basically, once your box is connected, to access BBC iPlayer, press the red button whilst tuned into a BBC channel. Then, when the BBC Red Button homepage loads, type in the code 5483 and press OK. You'll see a message that says "Number not found" (don't worry about that though). Then, after a few seconds, BBC iPlayer will appear on screen.
Sadly, it's only available on Humax set top boxes for the time being, however, this service is being rolled out across all Freesat HD set top boxes and Freesat HD TVs as soon as possible over the coming months.
Well done BBC. It's stuff like this that makes the license worth every penny.
