Jonathan Ross has had his fair amount of detractors over the years. He's been dubbed smarmy, talentless, cruel, nasty, bloated, nasty to old men and earning far too much money. And that's just by my girlfriend's mum in one breathless, angry rant. Well, there's a feeling that those in power at the BBC have just about had enough of our Wossy.
Reports are suggesting that he may be losing his contract with the BBC, which will be seen as some kind of horseshit victory by people who... well... people who just like moaning about stuff (don't you dare tar me with that brush!*)
According to The Sun, the broadcaster is considering dumping the television host when his current contract expires in July.
Unfortunately for Ross, this doesn't seem to be about money. The presenter/radio jock/film critic/award host recently declared that he was more than happy to take a pay cut.
Discussing his proposed salary reduction, Ross said: "It has never been about the money for me. I love doing the talkshow, I love doing the radio show and I love doing the film show."
However, if the Beeb are sick of the sight of him, then a paycut won't be enough. Suffice to say, Wossy won't have too much difficulty finding other work should this come to pass... but really, who else have the BBC got to rely on to step into the many role he does? Children in Need, Film, the radio show, Friday Night With...
These are some big shoes to fill.
*Tar me with that brush. I probably deserve it.
