Are you sick of people talking about the Christmas Number One? There’s been loads of rubbish ones… yadda yadda… Rage Against The Machine was a victory for ‘proper music’… yadda yadda. It’s all been fun and, simultaneously, filled with real bores. I should know. I’m one of them. Anyway, next Christmas could be very different from this one.
Apparently, the X Factor final may be staged a week early next year to avoid another battle for the Christmas number one, according to reports.
Producers are considering an earlier final to allow the winner’s song a better chance of making it to the top of the charts. So a Near Christmas Number One will do eh? Well, it’s not daft as according to midweek sales, Joe McElderry will be having this week’s number one, outselling RATM 2:1.
“If a show that gets 19 million viewers can’t muster enough support to beat an online campaign of music snobs, then maybe there is no point aiming for a Christmas number one next year,” a source told The Sun.
Not one to rest on its laurels, the show is set to push on to make the show even bigger next year. Apparently, Simon Cowell is trying to make next year’s X Factor “bigger and better” and is said to be eager to recruit Robbie Williams as a fifth judge.
