I’m pretty convinced that Holly Willoughby is the new Princess Diana. By that, I mean that women like her and Daily Mail reading blokes think about her when they’re alone on a toilet cubicle. She’s wholesome, good-looking and you can probably imagine her being a bit dirty. That, of course, means she’s perfect for television. As such, Phillip Schofield has come out and said that Holly Willoughby has had a fantastic reaction since she joined the This Morning team.

Willoughby became a co-host of the show alongside Schofe after Fern Britton quit the programme earlier this year.

Schofield told Heat: “I think she had a fantastic reaction. This Morning has a very loyal following, but from the word go Holly was absolutely the right person to come in.

“She’s got a great sense of humour and she’s beautiful and bright and bubbly . There was never any question that it should be anyone else.”

Of the possibility of Willoughby not being picked, Schofield joked of her replacement: “I would have given them Chinese burns and I would have stolen things from them.

“There would have been a lot of backstage bullying and petty jealousies and I would have insisted that I got all the words and all the close-ups.”
