ITV is rubbish isn’t it? Yeah! Booo! Hiss! It’s the worst ever! Unless you count Five, but that’s barely a TV station. That’s more like an LCD game of a dog sniffing a bumhole. But yeah! ITV IS RUBBISH! Right? Wrong. You see, in the two thousand and ninth year of our calendar, ITV has kicked the arse of everyone else.
The kudos is definitely not with ITV, but TV has always been a battle of ratings. This year, it looks like ITV will claim the crown for the most watched shows.
The final for Britain’s Got Talent was the most popular show of the year and another five ITV shows appeared in the top ten most watched programmes (up to early December). So many people watched the show that it was the highest-rated show in the UK since an England World Cup match in 2006. Last Sunday’s The X Factor results show will take second place (overtaking the results show from November 15th).
An episode of Eastenders (from 2nd April) was BBC One’s most popular show, with the 2nd of February’s Coronation Street only just behind. Bafflingly, Martin Clunes’ Doc Martin scored very highly, finishing higher than Strictly Come Dancing and last month’s Children in Need.
