charliebrooker____-.jpegChannel 4 has commissioned a second series of Charlie Brooker‘s comedy quiz You Have Been Watching. This is good news for Brooker who is fresh from winning Best Male Newcomer at the British Comedy Awards (not to mention the ‘honour’ of being placed above Delia Smith on a leaked BBC memo of talent).

The Channel 4 entertainment and comedy commissioning editor, Darren Smith, said words to the Guardian that went like this: “Charlie’s uniquely comic voice is a perfect fit on Channel 4. I’m looking forward to him becoming a big part of our comedy entertainment output in 2010.”

The production company that makes You Have Been Watching is Zeppotron (which is a subsidiary of Endemol).

Its managing director, Annabel Jones, added: “I am delighted that Channel 4 still want to commit to a second series following Charlie’s triumph over two small children at the British Comedy Awards. Now he’s beaten them he goes on to meet a stuffed owl and a baby swan in the European finals.”

The second series of You Have Been Watching will be broadcast in 2010.
