gavin&stacey--.jpgGavin and Stacey (BBC One, Thursday, 26 November, 9pm) kicks off again tonight and once again, shows us the impossible. By that, I mean, a good percentage of the cast are so brain-meltingly awful away from the camera, that it's a wonder how we all manage to love their characters so very, very much.

The show has gone from a cultish hit on a digital channel to a massive success. You might even say that it's already something of a modern national treasure.

Very few sitcoms have been decent of late that Gavin and Stacey has been a real tonic. This fact makes it a little depressing because tonight sees the beginning of the end. This third series is to be the last for the show, as is often the case with new serieseses.

Tonight, we see Gavin settling into his new job and the Christening of Smithy and Nessa's baby (which has a brilliantly awful name to watch out for). As ever though, it'll be Rob Brydon's Bryn who will completely steal the show.

Don't miss it.

It's one of those series. Like a kind of English Friends. I really want to hate it, but it's actually quite enjoyable. This opener was everything we have come to expect from Gavin and Stacey: heartwarming, funny, ridiculous in places, but still enjoyable nevertheless. Bryn was great singing Something Inside at the Christening. And Smithy's dreadful family (sister and mother)were entertainment value especially when his mother discussed her narcolepsy with Gavin's Mum, the wonderful Alison Steadman.
