Sadly, Confessions of a Traffic Warden (Channel 4, Thursday 19 November, 9pm) doesn't star Robin Askwith getting into all manner of risque problems... "Oooh! I fink I need to take a look at your meter, love!" However, it does look pretty interesting. We meet a team of immigrant workers who have come to England to take on the most unpopular job in the world...
We'll meet gentile Durga Pokhrel who arrives in London from Nepal. He loves the English and is enchanted by our green and pleasant land... he's wanted to visit all his life. In England, we are all lovely and courteous... right?
Of course, what with Durga becoming a traffic warden, we get to tune in and watch his heart get stamped on and wince as he gets torn a new bumhole.
Olly Lambert brings us this shaming and interesting film as we watch Durga's smile slowly turn into big fat salty tears as he ploughs away for a company contracted by Westminster City Council in London.
He and his fellow wardens are routinely subjected to abuse... and most of it racist. It won't be a nice viewing experience, but one you must watch to see what Britain can be really like sometimes.
