Are you ready for 3D television? Channel 4 give us a flavour…

queen 3D.jpgTonight, Channel 4 goes 3D. That’s rather exciting isn’t it? Well, in a I Feel Like I’m Watching Tomorrow’s World Aged 8 Again way. Have you got your 3D glasses yet? If you’re thinking you won’t need to get a pair because you already own some, think again. You see, you’ll need special new ones tonight that have a dark blue and amber lenses.

If you pass a Sainsbury’s on your way home, pop in and get yourself a pair.

Why? Well, tonight you’ll be able to see some footage of The Queen in 3D. The images of the coronation will come from 1953 from two cameramen called Bob Angell and Arthur Wooster shot some stereoscopic movies way back when.

In addition to that, we’ll also be treated to a special 3D Derren Brown show too!

Naturally, this is all very gimmicky, but it is ultimately fun. That said, 3DTV could well be making its way to our homes. There’s been a spate of 3D films lately and when Avatar hits the cinema this Christmas, 3D as we know it will (apparently) be turned in its head.

Sky are also promising a new 3D service and manufacturers have unveiled 3D-ready screens. This means 3DTV that doesn’t need special glasses. Some people in the industry are claiming that 3DTV will be a similar leap to black and white to colour TV.

Tonight will be a flavour of our new 3D world or… at the very least, a fun thing to join in with!

Its amazing how quickly technology is moving (or at least is seems quick). Since your article above about channel 4 and sky’s 3D content launch, 3D has already started to cement its place in the homes. The manufacturers are pushing the new technology a lot.

I believe the new 3D TV technology is moving at a very fast rate now. There is now even talk of 3D TV without glasses coming onto the market in the near future. Once the content for the 3D format is increased, then the uptake of 3D TVs will be much bigger.

I’m a great fan of the technology and watching programs that look more realistic so can’t wait for further developments. I’m not sure if Darren Brown will be high on my list of programmes to watch but i’m sure i could find something else that is decent :)

Lets not forget the enhanced gaming experience that the technology provides
