There was a lot of crying last night's penultimate episode of Celebrity Masterchef. And who can blame these exhausted finalists? The series has been going for at least six years and Iwan Thomas is keen to win it I'm half expecting him to serve up his own kidneys in tomorrow night's final cook-off. But there was this very tense and breakneck episode to get out of the way first, and it was a doozie.

Iwan Thomas, Wendi Peters and Jayne Middlemiss were whisked off to Morocco to cook in a proper restaurant. If anyone out there has tasted Moroccan food, you'll know it's amazingly and beautifully spiced and leaves the eater in wonderment for the rest of the day. So this lot had to cook both for the lunch service and dinner service and they had to get to grips this spiced apples and tagines and pancakes and all sorts of food they had never cooked before.
Honestly, my mouth was seriously watering at the sight of all this Moroccan food and also the scenery. The restaurant was in this amazing-looking riad (man I need to go to Morocco) with rose petals floating delicately on the swimming pool, gleaming hookahs everywhere and deep aubergines and ochres blushing the walls. God, I sound like a wanker.
Anyway, the food. The dinner these three made was seriously, seriously dainty and tasty-looking stuff. Jayne, as ever, was struggling with the pressure, as was Wendi (Jayne had to cook lamb wrapped in charred red pepper, Wendi the red mullet in ginger sauce). Iwan, on the other hand, was loving it. He made pasta for the first time and Gregg and John (on good shouting form all night) were impressed by his rapid progress. He looks like a proper contender.
At the end of dinner service they had cooked for 13 hours straight and were utterly exhausted, but the ordeal wasn't over yet. It was back to London to cook with celebrated chef Theo Randall in his posh Italian in Mayfair for five top French chefs (that means Michel Roux Snr and Jnr and a few others).
Jayne was bricking it. She was asked to make little pasta cappelletti stuffed with veal, but she hadn't made pasta before. It was a while before she got her head together and served up a decent plate of food, which the chefs liked. Liked but not loved. This praise was enough for Jayne's emotions to come tumbling out.
Iwan on the other hand was lapping it up, jogging up and down on the spot in preparation for cooking a hearty and delicious-looking fish stew. He had to cook different bits of fish in 12 separate pans in about two minutes and he did it. The chefs said it was perfection. High praise indeed.
Wendi was on the puddings, and she had to make a chocolate cake, a ricotta cheesecake and a panna cotta. So not much then. She did pretty well and, after admitting she didn't enjoy the whole Morocco experience, was much happier (although her panna cotta wasn't quite perfect). The chefs like it too. Wendi's emotions came tumbling out too.
All to play for tomorrow night...

The best bit was the look on the faces of the Rouxs (Senior and Junior) when the most junior of the French Chef Dining Party (the only one whose graphic didn't say how many Michelin stars he had) dared to venture an opinion.
We reckon behind his back they all call him the French equivalent of Billy No-Stars (Guillaume Pas d'Etoiles?).
help, missed final, I was on holiday. Is it going to be repeated?
Your luck is in Jean... it's still available on iPlayer. Hope you enjoyed your holiday!
What a let-down. Jayne wins Celebrity Masterchef despite being unable to fillet fish, needed help from others to complete tasks, left a kitchen in tears because she could not cope, failed to produce three finger nibbles on time – one that was produced appeared in a glass with a spoon – hardly the one bite finger that was expected.
