Ashes To Ashes series two isn't really too much of a distant memory, but already the DVD is here. It's in the shops to buy now if you want to sit through the whole thing again. Unlike those big-old American boxsets that everyone seems to be watching, Ashes To Ashes only has eight episodes to get through. Probably a rainy day's viewing then. But what's in the boxset?

Before I tell you what's in it, I'm still trying to make my mind up whether I enjoyed series two or not. There was certainly a lot going on, but it seemed to focus heavily on corruption and became a sort of lamer version of all those 80s cop show it originally set out to lovingly lampoon. Still, it got better as the series went on and finished with a fairly satisfactory shoot up and left the door wide open for series three with a quite a clever twist.
Elsewhere in series two, there were car thieves, murder, animal rights demonstrators, old flames, police corruption, burglaries and drug deals runs. Oh and there was an Irish bloke who haunted Alex because he claimed to know all about her ordeal. Oh and this Irish bloke, in Gene Hunt's world, killed the younger, idealistic version of himself so his bitter, older self could reign supreme.
The four-disc boxset does have extras, which include a shoulder-pad clad 1980s cast quiz and an exclusive 'Under the Ashes' making of feature that goes behind the scenes. Neat.
It's out to by now and costs about 40 quid.
