I’m not sure but the last series of Who Do You Think You Are? didn’t rate as highly as series before, despite featuring some terrific and moving family stories from the likes of Ainsley Harriott (first time I’ve watched an hour of him the telly without wanting to throw myself out of the window) and Rock Stein. There was also Fiona Bruce, Rory Bremner and Kevin Whately, so they had some proper TV personalities in there. The really big name on the forthcoming series (starting later in the summer) will feature Sex And The City star Kim Cattrall exploring her British roots (she was born in Liverpool) and trying to solve a family mystery that has been around since the time of her grandfather.

So that’s quite a catch for the show, but there’s more – Springwatch’s Kate Humble, Peep Show’s David Mitchell, The Office’s Martin Freeman, Big Brother’s Davina McCall and Chris Moyles’ Chris Moyles will also investigate their family roots.

Emerging details suggest that McCall’s episode will see her trace her ancestry through generations of British and French people, while Moyles’ personal journey takes him from the slums of Dublin to the battelfields of Ypres.

Can’t wait, should be a goodie.
