James May On The Moon gets DVD release

maymoon.jpg"It's emotional, and, I'm not ashamed to admit, not just for him." And so our Anna wrote after watching James May On The Moon, which aired on BBC Two the other week. Now, our Anna doesn't get emotional very easily. She once laughed during a screening of The Puppy Meets The Business End Of A Claw Hammer. This is why we Scoopers don't get invited to The Opening Of An Envelope. Anyway, James May On The Moon was indeed a cracking show and if you'd like to own it and can't be bothered working out how to illegally rip it and install a Div X player or whatever it's called, you'll be pleased to know you can exchange old fashioned cash for a DVD product of the show.

If you missed our previous review and clicking a link is too much effort, then the show is about James May getting as close to astronautdom as he can without actually being sent to another planet. Of course, it's all to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the moon landings.

Four decades after Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took man's first steps onto the moon, James May travels to the America to meet those men who first stepped foot on the moon. It's a journey through emotion, endeavour, technology and more.

Apollo 16's Charlie Duke gives James his verdict on the road-handling of the Lunar Rover, Apollo 17's Harrison Schmitt gives James a guided tour of a Saturn V rocket, and Apollo 12's Alan Bean shows James his moon art.

Better yet, is that the DVD will once again show James experiencing Zero Gravity on the infamous Vomit Comet, and the crushing forces of G in an Air Force centrifuge chamber. The climax of the show is May's flight to the edge of space in a U2 spy plane.

This release also includes James May at the Edge of Space, which sees May train for three days for his trip to the edge of space. Three days of horrible, gruelling training. It's available from 20th July 2009.
