We’re less than two weeks in, and already I may be forced to eat my carefully chosen words about the diminishing appeal of Big Brother – for this series is shaping up to be potentially interesting. The past week and a half has already seen three female housemates depart, all through entirely different methods (Beinazir never became a housemate, Sophia was evicted and Saffia just walked – thus putting a permanent end to Sophie/Sophia/Saffia confusion for ever more), others have threatened to walk, while others have engaged in fights, quarrels, spats, personality clashes…..you name it.
For all our BB news, reviews and recaps, go here.
The latest spat occurred over the weekend when the lady I can now only think of as ‘Noreen’ declared she had had enough of being made to wear a drawn on moustache and glasses and threatened to go on hunger strike for three days if she was not permitted to remove them (although frankly Sree’s Monday lunch of,er, raw bacon sarnies would be enough to put anyone off eating for a lot longer).
Lisa, who I can’t quite work out yet – is she the resident do-gooder or just a bit of a troublemaker, took offence to this and even more so to Halfwit Freddie coming out in support for ‘Noreen’ by only wearing a towel (well frankly who wouldn’t? And incidentally if there has ever been a housemate as utterly dim-witted as posh boy appears to be, I would love to know who they are). Marcus, aka Wolverine, promptly leapt into the mix by telling Lisa she was a “bully” with “no respect for anyone”.
Tempers flared, Lisa got called to the Diary Room to calm down and Marcus continued to carry on. And on. And on. And on. And on. Ad infinitum……
Hard to tell who was in the right here, mind. Initially Marcus came across as a bit mean, but then Lisa’s approach to the subject was somewhat heavy-handed – or was it the other way round? It was one of those confusing arguments which neither housemate appeared to win, and both ended up looking a tad stupid if we’re being honest.
But it was just the latest in a string of conflicts which have plagued the house since the series started – and if we’re getting this many spats this early on, then things could develop in a very interesting fashion. Although nice guy Charlie remains our favourite not to get involved in any hissyfits. We shall see.
So based on the events of the weekend, who do we think will be up for nomination this week? Well Halfwit Freddie must be a certainty again – nobody seems to be that keen on him, and I have a sneaking suspicion that he’ll get nominated every single week until he finally gets booted out (rather like Paul in series two). As for the other, well no doubt Marcus’mates in the house will all nominate Lisa, and all those who are pally with Lisa will doubtless nominate Marcus – so I’m predicting we could have a trio of nominees this week. All will be revealed in due course……
