Will Harry Hill’s TV Burp jump to Sky 1?

harry-hill-tv-burp-.jpgITV1, bless ‘em, don’t have many shows worth watching… and now, one of the few raging successes – Harry Hill’s TV Burp – may be off to satellite telly, where hardly anyone will see it. You see, Sky 1 has made a cheeky bid to half-inch the show, and negotiations are believed to be ongoing with producer Avalon Television. There’s no getting away from the fact that, should ITV lose this, it’ll pretty much be a dead broadcasting duck, possibly with a still image of Philip Schofield’s face, grinning.

An ITV spokesman said: “We have secured Harry Hill’s TV Burp throughout autumn and winter, and long may it continue. He is very popular with viewers.”

It seems that Sky 1 are looking around the terrestrial stations and looking at which shows they can pinch. Apparently, they tried to swipe Gavin and Stacey from the BBC. They’ll no doubt be looking elsewhere for successful shows.

A Sky spokesman said: “Sky strives to provide our customers with the best content. We continue to invest in programming and are examining a number of high-profile programmes that have a natural fit with Sky 1.”

So what next? They should’ve bagged Pulling for a start… maybe they’ll look toward Being Human? We’ll have to see and, for those of us who don’t want to pay a subscription, hope they don’t snaffle our favourite shows!
