BBC Four doesn’t show many comedy series, but my word it knows how to pick a good’un. It was the natural first home for The Thick of It (which is graduating to BBC Two for the next series) and took Cowards under its intellectual wing when it became clear that their comedy just wasn’t suited to BBC Three. And then there’s Flight of the Conchords, the low-key but laugh-out-loud series starring two Kiwi geniuses…

If you missed the series, I *could* tell you that it stars New Zealanders Brett McKenzie and Jermaine Clement as a folk-duo struggling to make it in NY with the help of world’s most inept manager and one crazed fan. I *could* tell you that Brett and Jermaine and Rhys Darby are brilliant performers, and that their songs are awesome. I could do that, or you could just watch the first series which BBC Four are helpfully showing all next week (starting Sunday, 11pm) and then get nice and excited for the show’s return later this month.
