It’s a mad world when you can watch the internet on your TV and TV on your tinternettles. Who’d have thought that could happen 10 years ago? As we all know, thanks to loads of techie whizzie things you’re able to pretty much do what you want with TV, watch it where you want and on whatever medium comes to hand. The only thing you can’t do these days is make toast via your computer. Actually, thanks to fancy home control systems you can do that. And now streaming stuff from the internet on your TV just got a whole lot better.

The first bit of news is that Adobe want to bring its flash technology – the one that you have probably downloaded on to your pooter to watch bits of video and stuff on the internet – has announced that it intends to bring Flash to TVs, set-top boxes and Blu-ray DVD decks.

The goal, reports sfgate, is to bring video functionality to the TV, and “bring HD video directly to connected TV via the Internet. It probably won’t be the big name broadcasters, but smaller niche providers and user generated content will be able accessible through the TV.”

Look out for it in new TVs later in the year.

And then there’s the iPlayer. digitalspy says that selected BBC programmes are now available in HD. “iPlayer HD was expected to launch last week but rollout was aborted due to a last-minute deployment issue; however, the new service, which makes programmes available in HD via streaming and downloads, was made available this afternoon.”

So anyone with an HD-ready TV, you can now catch-up in high definition as well as annoy your mates who haven’t got it yet by banging on how nice it is.
