I wouldn’t blame you for switching off or navgating away from this story if, like many, you’re sick and tired of the seemingly annual Jane Austen TV adaptation. It is, pretty much, an annual occurance, right? Let’s see. We had something on ITV last year and BBC the year before. We also had Lost In Austen, which helped to breath new life into the genre (yes, Jane Austen TV adaptations is now a genre) but was still something about Jane Austen. Now the Beeb is wading in with their own project. Want to know what it is and who’s in it? Have a look after the jump…

For all our costume drama stuff, go here.

This time, the BBC period drama producing machine will phlegm up Emma – Austen’s tale of the handsome, clever and rich Emma Woodhouse, who is known for her failed matchmaking and witty repartee.

This latest adaptation, a four-part series, will begin filming in Kent next week. Have a look around – if you live in Kent and come across anyone in a bonnet it’s likely to be this lot:

Romola Garai has the title role, Sir Michael Gambon is Emma’s affectionate but neurotic father; Johnny Lee Miller plays Emma’s shrewd and attractive neighbour, Mr Knightley; the very good Jodhi May as Emma’s former governess, Miss Taylor; and Tamsin Greig plays the witterng Miss Bates whose poverty draw the pity and goodwill of all of Highbury.

Look out for it in the autumn.
