I’ve read several articles during the past few days proclaiming that Britain’s Got Talent is not only the saviour of ITV but also the saviour of the British human people. Why? It seems that BGT, in these times of doom and gloom, is just what the doctor ordered. As for ITV, the Easter weekend’s show pulled in over 10 million viewers. That’s quite a lot and should keep the ITV naysayers at bay for a while. But what about Susan Boyle? The enormous-eyebrowed church singer wowed everyone and cockles were warmed all over the shop. Now the Boyle is a global phenomenon.

Yahoo! reports this morning that not only did Susan’s performance become an internet phenomenon over night, but now her popularity has reached global proportions. So much so, Hollywood humans likes Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore have been moved to Tweet about her.

Ashton said: “This just made my night.” Wifey then replied: “You saw it made me teary!”

And it hasn’t stopped there – interview request have, apparently, come flooding in from places called Australia and America. There’s no doubt that she’s a huge favourite to win the thing. Just think – a 48-year-old charity worker from West Lothian who looks like my mate’s dad might just be the thing we’re all looking for. She is, undoubtedly, brilliant. In fact, BGT might just be the show that makes everyone feel good about themselves again.
