Google's new Street View application on Google Maps has got everyone rather excited at the prospect of showing off where they live, on a 3D map. Of course, there are incredibly boring people all carrying the same argument - 'Why would anyone want to see a picture on a house?' or whatever. One. Cheer up. Two. It is very useful as it gives you a floor level 3D map, like StaNav for people who walk places. Also, it's full of famous people, funny images and more! This being a TV site, I thought I'd have a look for some TV people and places... and found some really cool stuff!
First of all, and I had to show you this, is The Stig, stood in the window of an office, watching the traffic go by on the Westway in White City. Click here to see him ominously standing and watching. Dave Gorman has claimed to have seen himself on Street View wearing a loud tie. Click here to visit his blog and see what he says about the whole thing... but it might be worth reading the comments to as some think he's having a little joke with us to promote his new show.
The great little site, Google Sightseeing have found Where's Wally (or Waldo if you're in the States) standing outside a mobile phone shop. Rumour has it, there's a number of Wallys featured on StreetView and if you spot them all, there's a prize of some kind. If that's true, that's pretty fun. Anyway, click here to see our Wally, waving away.
Also spotted on StreetView is the Masterchef headquarters. How great is that?! It's a real building and located on Bastwick Street in London, should you want to run down there on your lunch and shout "cooking doesn't get any tougher than this!" Click here to see it.
Of course, the daddy of all the British TV stations is the BBC. Television Centre is featured on Street View and you can see it by clicking here. It looks quite grotty doesn't it? More impressive however is the famous Broadcasting House in White City. Click here to see it.
Also on StreetView is The Other Channel, namely, ITV. Granada Studios (where they film Coronation Street... well, nearby at any rate) in Manchester is well known in the area and you can become more familiar with it by clicking here.
If you've seen any famous faces and places on Street View, please leave them in the comments although I still don't know if they're working yet... so Tweet them to us at our Twitter page.
