The second series of Dexter (ITV1, Thursday, 12 February, 10.35pm), thus far, has been every bit as thrilling as the first… albeit, with a slight twist. You see, for those who haven’t been on the ball with it this season, Dexter is no longer wrestling with just his inner turmoil, but rather, an turmoil that’s rapidly spilling out. In new character Lila, we’re seeing Dexter unveiled, which is providing even more for us humbled viewers to sink our teeth into. This week’s episode is amusingly called Dex, Lies and Videotape and we’ve got a twist on our hands.

In season one, Dexter was always uniform and tidy, making him a brilliantly neurotic creation. However, as the buttons loosen, Dex is growing outward and into something more fiendish and somehow more… sexy. As ever, Michael C. Hall is mindbendingly fantastic.
This week, a copycat vigilante emerges from the shadows prompting Lundy (who is also increasingly fabulous) to issue the squad with an ultimatum. Debra continues to be jumpy and gangly and Doakes? Well, he’s one bad [shutyourmouth].
Fact is, even though there’s been less fanfare over series two, Dexter is still one of the finest shows on the box. Couple this with the incredibly brilliant Moses Jones, and you’ve got the two best cop-gore-grammes on the box in years.
