Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding through the glen, Robin Hood, Robin Hood, all I ask is when. When will it be good? When will it be good? Robin Hood, Robin Hood, Robin Hood. Did you like that? I just made that up. ON THE SPOT! Quite happy with that. Anyway, it has been well-documented (and well-argued with fans of the show) that I think the current incarnation of The Hood is doggo. In my opinion it only got good right at the end of the last series, when Marion carked it. Never one to let the death of a major character get in its way, it’s on its way back for a third series.

So this third series has a few new things. No Marian for a start, so a new female comes in for Jonas Armstrong. Her name is Kate and is played by Joanne Froggatt (last seen in Spooks: Code 9). Kate not happy with the dastardly Sheriff’s conscription of her brother. Soon she’s galivanting around the forest with Robin, who is seething with revenge – he wants to nail Gisbourne, the killer of his wife.
There’s also Friar Tuck. You may have seen a picture of him in The Sun (click here to have a look), and he’s been described as a warrior monk and a man of vision and imagination.
Elsewhere, Guy Of Gisbourne welcomes a younger sister, Isabella (Lara Pulver) who turns out to be trouble for both Guy and Robin, and Prince John, played by Toby Stephens. This could actually be a good appointment because Toby Stephens is born to play a villain.
As the threat of Prince John looms larger Robin and Gisborne have to reach an uneasy truce as it emerges that they may have rather more in common than they thought.
So there you go Hoodies fans… look out for it in the spring, which probably means sometime in March.
