Tomorrow night sees the start of Demons, ITV1′s big, new Saturday night family actioner (Saturday 2 January, 7.20pm). You might have seen the adverts – the channel has been flagging this up for a while now, and the advertising spend has been evidently pretty high. It’s a re-imagining and a 21st century re-working of the Van Helsing story, with Philip Glenister in the lead role as a sort of Obi Wan-type figure, guiding young Van Helsing descendant Luke through a dark underworld of demons and Mackenzie Crooks.
