In all honest, I’d watch Oz and James Drink To Britain (BBC Two) instead of Supersize vs Superskinny (Channel 4, Tuesday, 20 January, 8pm) as they occupy the same slot. However, there are some of you out there who will have zero interest in watching a couple of blokes bicker over beer. So what does Supersize… offer? Well, like the last series, it will look at the eating habits of a fat person in contrast to the habits of a skinny wretch. In the interests of fairness, both will be judged just as harshly as the other.

Of course, the guise of this show is to look at weight, food and body image… when really, the underlying message is ‘There is an ideal weight, get on it before someone calls you a minger’. Mercifully, this series seems to be devoid of the idiot that is Gillan McKeith, leaving Dr Christian Jessen (as seen on Dry Heavey Diseasey or whatever it was called) and Anna Richardson (as seen on The Sex Education Show).
The show focuses on underweight mum Gillian and overeating nurse Philippa. They enter the feeding clinic (which is probably just a room with great bit tubes to pour food into, all in the name of creating a ‘stark’ image for our TV addled brains) and are reprogrammed into eating properly.
Elsewhere, Anna launches her very own Flab Fighters club… despite the fact she’s not flabby at all. She is, however, going for all the jobs that Dawn Porter doesn’t want. All in all, this show says ‘we want to help’, when really, it doesn’t say anything of great interest at all.
