I've already spouted off today what a disappointment Britney's performance on The X Factor was on Saturday night, and a neat segue, there's this thing on Sky1 tonight, which is billed as an exclusive. I fear we may have quite a lot of Britney on our screens over the next week - she has a new album out and she's going to be plugging it for all it's worth. Which is fair enough. It's been a while since she has released something new and her life has been a bit of a freakshow during the past few years. So what can we expect from her interview tonight?
Well, Radio Times previews the programme like this: "This 90-minute "exclusive" promises a cinematic voyage into the mind, heart and soul of Britney Spears. It's a terrifying prospect, especially as the tabloid favourite will speak candidly about her hopes, aspirations and recent stint in therapy. Venture if you dare."
Venture if you dare is a bit harsh, I think, but there's no denying that Britney's life has, in the past few years, has been a watch-through-your-hands tabloid freakshow. The hair, the custody battles, the everything... at one point I really did fear for her.
So the prospect of the woman herself revealing exactly what happened is an intriguing and (almost) a must-watch thing. Well, for fans and idle voyeurs. You just know though that anything that's badged and trumpeted as an exclusive will fail to deliver the truly juicy details. She's got an album to plug, so will she really reveal all? Let's find out...
Oh as an aside, I came across this astonishing article on this site (it's called Republic Faith Chat. Yes, I know!). The piece speculates as to whether Britney is possessed by the devil. It's exactly this kind of tosh that pushes someone over the edge. Please read and then laugh heartily.
"We've known for some time that Britney Spears isn't our kind of Christian. The evidence is there for anyone who cares to look (although I advise against it): kissing Madonna on the mouth, checking in and out of rehab, posing naked on magazine covers while pregnant, going around with out any britches and showing her panty parts to the world, attacking a car with an umbrella, cavorting with all sorts of unsavory men - even though she's a mother, driving her car like a maniac, doing drugs and drinking alcohol, dancing with a snake (which always reminds me of the shameful homage I used to do of Salma Hayek's performance as Santanico Pandemonium in From Dust Till Dawn - but that's another story altogether) and, of course, her crazy antics lately related to her child custody battle. Everyone has surely seen her all over the news in recent days and weeks. First, the news reports said that she was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol when she was taken to the hospital in an ambulance last week. Now, it is reported that Britney was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. So, what could be the cause of her erratic behavior? Obviously, Satanic possession is the only answer."
Unbelievable.

Poor lass. Too much too soon and no support from anyone. I know she's got the dosh but that's not everything. Clearly.
