I was wrong again and I'm thrilled about it. Either the BBC is fiddling the votes to avoid a repeat of the Gabby and Penny shocker of the last series* or the audience has finally wised up and started voting for the good dancers, rather than the bad (dare I dream?).
* I don't really think this is the case. They wouldn't dare, would they?
First up was a recap of the previous night, which included some extra footage of Jessie who was clearly even more upset than she seemed on the night. John Culshaw said that the public would root for her because she has a great sense of joy. Well, yes. But the other women have a sense of joy too and they can actually dance.
Did you know that Simply Red were still going? No, me neither. How tired must they be of singing Something Got Me Started? I was tired of hearing it about twenty years ago. And is it me or is Mick Hucknall starting to look like Zelda from Terrahawks?
So it was results time and Jessie (and Darren) and Heather (and Brian) were in the bottom two and so faced "the dreaded dance-off". I don't think Heather did herself any favours since, while Jessie was smiling away (despite surely knowing that the judges would save Heather), Heather was stony-faced. It doesn't matter if you think you've given the dance of your life, you have to win the public over and you don't do that by being annoyed to be in the bottom two!
But, of course, for this week at least the public had no further say and Craig, Arlene and Bruno saved Heather and Brian. Len said he would have saved Jessie and Darren, but it was academic and Jessie was out.
