Rescue Me has had some pretty good reviews and, not only that, seen a return of Denis Leary to our screens (well, those who watch FX). Seasons one, two and three have received decent viewing figures and caused a fair bit of controversy and fans of the show will be thrilled to discover that the new fourth series will be available to download from iTunes on November 7th. Each 45 minute show, 52 in total, will be available, as well as previous series, which means, if you haven’t seen it before, you can play catch-up!
For those that haven’t seen Rescue Me, the show follows New York firefighter, Tommy Gavin, and his co-fighters at Truck Company 62 as they struggle to come to grips with the aftermath of 9/11 and the loss of their fallen comrades. Drifting between sorrow and anger over the breakdown of his marriage and separation from his three kids, Tommy suffers from recurring memories and grief for his late cousin and best friend, Jimmy, who frequently visits him in visions.
The first three seasons of Rescue Me won Leary several Emmy® nominations for both acting and writing, and the show was widely praised for successfully tackling the heavy-hitting topics of depression, alcoholism and death, balanced with dark humour and gripping drama.
The cast also features Andrea Roth (Lucky), Jack McGee (Legally Blonde 2), Mike Lombardi (Banshee) and James McCaffrey (Max Payne). Guest stars include Michael J. Fox (Back To The Future), Tatum O’Neal (Paper Moon), Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise) and Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny). The show was co-created and written by Denis Leary and Peter Tolan (The Larry Sanders Show).
