As we all know, MTV is no longer a music channel. You can get your fix of pop, rock and pretty much anything else further down the music EPG, and now MTV is now the home of reality shows and, erm, lots more reality shows. You’d think that MTV in its relatively new status as an entertainment channel would have the basics covered. Simple things like scheduling a series at the same time each week so that viewers can tune in time after time. You’d think that wouldn’t you? Of course you would. What we think and what actually happens seems to be miles apart.
I love The Hills, I love My Super Sweet Sixteen, I love A Shot Of Love, I even love I Love New York 2.
It’s this particular programme that has made me mad with MTV. The series began a while ago and eventually settled in the 10.30pm slot on Sundays. This particular Sunday however, I Love New York 2 was put in the 11.30pm slot, without any continuity warnings, and because it’s MTV and they can’t be arsed to pay anyone to do series linking for Sky+, I had a repeat of Kerry parasite Katona waiting for me.
It’s bad enough that MTV programmes hardly ever have episodic EPG information (so you don’t know what you’ve seen and what’s new) but to then move a series when it’s near the end for a repeat of the most vile woman on TV? Shame on you MTV! Is it really too much to ask that you leave well alone, or invest in Sky+ series linking, or actually tell people when you’re changing the time slot of a series mid-way through its run. It’s not difficult, most other channels manage it. Why can’t you?
Rant over. Please sort it out MTV!
